NX will not be "next gen" It will be "new gen" what ever that means..

Is this the new hope? That MS & Sony pull an unimaginably stupid, boneheaded move and reset their userbase about the same time the NX lands?

I'm really thinking this is all just early rumors for ps5 or a slim ps4 with 4K movie playback and maybe a couple other tweaks.

Not to mention the first Samsung 4K blu Ray player just recently went on sale and its $400. And sony's own 4K movie box that comes pre loaded with multiple 4K content is a whopping $500. So for ppl thinking a new ps4 that plays 4K movies and 4K games is coming soon, I find that very hard to believe. Unless Sony plans on charging us $1,000 for the thing.

d) There won't be a gen 8.5. It is delusional to believe console makers are going to destroy the market they have through misguided partial upgrades. Their will be slim models and tweaks of course but nothing significant, The whole market and investment is dependent on NOT needing to constantly upgrade or change the base platform.

Sorry to burst your bubble. But updated consoles doesn't make it a gen 8.5.

The 8th gen consoles are, in order of release.

Wii U
PS4 (in America)
Xbox One


The 9th Gen consoles are

NX
PS5 (likely beyond a doubt)
Next Xbox (This depends how Microsoft wants to tackle the future of Xbox. Either as hardware or a service)


Sorry but the NX is the first 9th gen console, rather you like it or not.
