There are those that don't to upgrade to windows 10.

Those that don't want to deal with the windows store.

Also those that want the physical version.

edit: Also the wants that want to "download" the cutscenes as opposed to having to stream them.

Those are pretty big cons for the PC version.

I didnt remember that the game was exclusive to Windows 10 store, thats a very valid reason to go with the Xbox One version.

Microsofts cross platform plan is all based on Windows 10

The VFX are arguably the best I've seen this generation

I'm so disappointed that i just preordered the game only so i could cancel it again!

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

I'm quite sure no-one has cancelled their pre-order over this 😁

Anyway, I like what DF is doing with these analyses but they do highlight the problem of some gamers being unable to judge things themselves.

I noticed this also... it's like they realise that people can't judge by themselves and only look for a number so they "know" whether a game is good or bad... they should continue to point these things really.

Why? What's the benefit?

Let's imagine sales of Digital games reaches 50%. If a publisher has retail sales of 2.5m for his game, don't you think he/she is likely to be keen on showing 5m sales (digital combined)? That's got to be a huge benefit to the publisher and I think the increase of digital sales is kreeping ever closer to 50%.

I don't understand what your point is.

Again, if publishers want to discuss sales they will do so. Some will most won't.

So Microsoft lied, first they said 900p then 1080p

"While Quantum Break remains visually impressive - stunning in many areas, in fact - the core pixel count is clearly a factor in the presentation. However, it is not the most striking compromise we noted in Quantum Break's visual make-up. Draw distances for textures and shadows stand out, and it's commonplace to see assets switch between quality levels as you approach them, making for some rough-looking scenes at times. Additionally, some volumetric light shafts seem very blocky, rendering at what looks like 1/16th of the final 1080p output. While we appreciate the need to pare back various elements for performance reasons, sometimes the impact in visual quality can be a little too distracting."

So, 720p, 30fps, poor draw distances, and blocky effects? Seems like they need struggled to maintain solid performance here.

That explains what i saw in thé last vidéos, thé kind of textures/Shadow clipping on walls you often see

(All aboard the unnecessarily long but potentially mildy interest reply train, choo choo!)

I think it's less a matter of people being unable to judge things for themselves, and more the result of humans being approximators rather than calculators. Unless something is incredibly obvious, or we're explicitly looking for it, our brains will often opt to out-right ignore information. In pointing out the specifics to someone (the 'numbers'), and providing they understand what those specifics mean, you're forcing their brains to consider its reality with that data included. Unless you've personally given something a high mental priority, you'll often need that prompt (or to see a direct comparison between [x] and [y]), before you can make a proper judgment.

The above is how several times while playing TLOU:R, after turning the game to 30fps to take better screenshots (since shadow quality is doubled in 30fps mode), i managed to forget to turn it back to 60fps. Not because i can't easily feel the difference between 30fps and 60fps, i can, but because while i was taking the screenshot my brain decided it wasn't relevant enough to be included its present approximation. Something i'd normally notice immediately became just a mild niggle at the back of my head.

Now, arguably this means it's often better for people not to know the specifics, but likely because we're approximators, we like to explore the specifics of things. In effect, we get enjoyment out of potentially damage our enjoyment of something, just so we have more information

None of this is to say people should actually care about the differences they do or don't see, that's entirely down to the individual. Just that not noticing something, or being able to properly judge it, also doesn't mean it can't matter to them.

On a side note, this is how those invisible gorilla attention tests work, or videos like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubNF9QNEQLA. In the absence of clear information we can filter out stuff that when focused on, become really damn obvious.
