My thoughts on Nisekoi 214:

Ugh, another throwaway chapter. I guess you can't do much when a character decides to run away and everyone feels bad and is looking for her. Ugh, Chitoge, what an idiot. Decides to run away so that Ruka and Onodera can be happy together, but decides not to tell them? Of course they're gonna worry. That's gotta be her plan. She can't be that stupid...

This isn't as bad as the Marika wedding arc, so I can't fault Komi, but come on, he can do better than this. It's becoming apparent he's wrapping this up, and it kinda doing a terrible job at it. Onodera didn't even do anything. They just... talked about Chitoge, and now they're gonna rescue her. Ugh, so dumb. At least Onodera is there to make it readable... I'm gonna be pissed if the next chap is another throwaway!

I mean...this arc seems to be building up to the conclusion. That's basically the exact opposite of a throwaway chapter. Not that it matters in an SoL anyway....it just seems odd to call a chapter a 'throwaway' when the plot is actually moving finally.

I also thought it was clear that she was in too much pain to confront them over it, and wanted to make sure no one would find out her reasons on top of that. She found out her friend and the guy she loves have feelings for each other within a few days. It's shortsighted, sure, but certainly not something I would fault her over. Certainly not stupid either :/

Haha, thanks for the concern Inigo, but I know what it means and am sticking to it

The 2 most recent chapters have been bare minimum and overall unenjoyable to read, but have to be done because the hole has been dug and now Komi just has to go with it. There's really no need to read them again and they just roll the story along. Even the tease about Onodera was pointless and nothing. Throwaway. And I can't help but feel it shows Chitoge's faults here, because she wants to think she's being selfless, but she's being the opposite and cowardice. She can't even cheer them on or confront it, and just runs away instead. I can get not telling Raku, but telling no one, even tsugumi, who is the closest person to her? This all just comes off as really dumb, and is really just causing problems for everyone than helping. Heck, Raku will probably think she's stupid as well in the next one. If anything, Onodera is being the selfless one here.

So courtesy of Platters, I picked up a new manga recently, Hirunaka no Ryuusei, which so far has been really charming. The main character, Suzume, is a bit of an odd ball, but in a good way. She's very spacey and somewhat awkward person with a bored expression on her face, but is very comical, especially with her expressions. She's also someone who isn't very shy for the most part (except with it comes to love, haha). I guess that could happen when a country girl suddenly has to move out to the city, so cityfolk may think of her as plain and weird. It's funny seeing how she lives her life in the big city, making odd friends, and learning more about love as well. It's really cute and charming to read. And it's just fun to see Suzume acting silly at times... x )

No...what I mean is that by definition, that phrase doesn't really make sense. If you just think about it,  you can't "throw away" this chapter and tell the same story. You might think the events are illogical, or might not like what's happening, but that's honestly beside the point. Like it or not, these events are critical to the conclusion, and can't be "thrown away". I'm not sure how you can throw away a chapter that you admit is "rolling the story along". If anything, it's the silly slice of life events from earlier in the manga that fall under that phrase, even though they were mostly fun to read.

Sorry @_@ But semantics really bother me.

And obviously hindsight is always 20/20...but based on the tone of these events, I think it's clear that Chitoge is being a bit irrational due to how hurt she is. The more people she talks to, the more likely someone will try to stop her, and more importantly, the more likely her own reasons for leaving will come out. There are definitely things she could be doing differently, but above all, she wants to dissapear so her precious people can be happy, without having to see them herself. Being a third wheel is clearly crushing to her.

I know I've certainly been in situations where I just wanted to ghost away without saying anything, and so seeing an emotional teenage girl do it in this scenario seems completely understandable. It's a very human way of thinking...and I honestly much prefer seeing characters act like this over perfect ones that do everything right. It helps me relate more to characters when they act human...rather than when they act like...well, characters.

Anyways, I suppose it dissapoints me a little our opinion on the last few chapters is so drastically different, as this arc has so far been doing a great job for me at setting up the conclusion. Last chapter in particular had one of the most emotional scenes I've seen in the story so far. Can't be helped I suppose...I guess we're reading it for different reasons.

Fair enough, I see what you mean in that this is important in moving the plot forward, but I just don't like how it's being done here. It feels.. forced, unnatural and not interesting. The following chapters have been predictable, boring, and.. just not fun to read. They left me disappointed and just hoping maybe the next chapter will be something good. That's just how I feel though.

And yeah, those sort of feelings are understandable in the situation she got into... but running so far away that it'd make it hard for the others to find her (even just.... skipping graduation) is taking it too far for me. I see how it is emotional for you, but I've seen the other side where people are not very happy with it, and well... I gotta be with them on that. o:

Yeah, I can see where you're coming from...even if I'm of the opposite mind (though it's certainly rushed, I'll admit). I'll probably concede on predictability as well, even though that's something I actually prefer in this genre. I might be in the minority there...I just really hate surprise endings in romance/rom-coms. I much prefer steady build up towards one obvious conclusion over something that seems to come out of nowhere. Though middle ground is good too...if possible.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy Hirunaka! I read it a few years ago, and thought it was cute. It actually ended the exact same week as Naruto, which is funny because my pairing of choice happened in one, and absolutely sunk in the other. :P #shipperproblems

I'm not too sure where I fall when it comes to endings. I guess I like endings that have a good closure, wraps up all the loose ends and show some post stuff. Bakuman was one example of an ending I hated! Hopefully Nisekoi gets a nicely wrapped end.

I will! I am definitely liking it so far! Suzume is likely going to be my favorite character already. I just love that face of hers xD

Finally found nisekoi 214(in spanish though xD) and damn...this is pretty stupid, but at the very least it's almost over.

Tokyo Goul re though...holy crap this week's chapter was intense! I knew there was a reason why she wanted to be a girl, but I wasn't expecting domestic violence. I shida really likes using that xD Hopefully this really isn't the end for Kaneki, Amon should show up and help him out against Arima.

Oh, I thought it was the next next chapter. Somehow the chap got uploaded way earlier. Now I'm just waiting for 215 to come out already. End the pain already Komi...
