Those sound pretty good actually, especially another. That one's def got my attention. Sounds like a really interesting and spooky story.

From what I saw on googling it, I feel I've seen Umineko before. I think it was also a game? I'm not too sure. It does look familar.

I've also seen pictures of Higurashi, so I'm familiar with it. I think it has a lot of different spinoffs, but one character I remember is the girl in the white dress andthe machete. That's a character from the show, right..?

Higurashi and Umineko are both also games. They are visual novels. I never played the Higurashi visual novel, I did do the umineko one since I was really interested after the anime. You make no decisions or choices (you literally just read) until you get to the very final VN. At which point it is suddenly like an actual game where you make choices. I think it was almost like a test to "see" if you've solved it etc.

Any of the girls could have had a machete. That is one of the themes of the anime/manga. That basically anyone can go crazy for any reason. The best part? There is an "answer season" where they actually explain everything and you go "omg it makes sense".

Another is quite good. Some blood and gore, creepy through out it. The story made me stick through it though. I wanted to know all the answers.

Ah, I didn't know Higurashi was also a game. I thought it was an anime 1st.. The Umineko sounds kinda strange in that it sounds like you're reading a book rather than playing a game...

Higurashi sounds interesting, and I would like to check it out some time. How long is the series? Also, the machete girl I was talking about looks like this.

I'm not sure how significant this is, but she's what comes to mind on the series.

Also, I'd def like to check out Another as well. I like a good mystery.

Heya, it's Cloudy here again, and I have another spooky manga to recommend for the month of horror! This time it's Ibitsu by Ryou Haruka, a manga about a boy who one night goes out to take out the trash, when he meets a creepy girl in a white dirty lolita dress hanging out there. She askes him if he has a little system, and the boy responds. It's after this encounter, the creepy girl then starts to follow him around and things turn for the worst...

Sooo, yeah... it's a rather short story, so if you wanna read something spooky, perhaps you may enjoy this. Plus the mini story is pretty great as well.

I took your recommendation and read it. I gotta say... damn...

That was shit was fucked up.

I'm good on my scare quota for the rest of the month.

What? You're done with spooky material already? I still have more goods to recommend this month!

But yeah, the story is pretty messed up, right? It's such a creepy and grim end. I used to be afraid of taking out the trash at night for awhile, after reading this story.

Heya, Cloud here with another horror manga recommendation, but something a little different from the previous ones mentioned before.

Do you like cute school girls? Do you like zombies and zombie apocalypses? Well, this manga may just be a match made in heaven for you.

So the next recommendation is Gakkou Gurashi, or School-Live, a manga about 3 girls attending school and living their daily lives!... Except it's not. In reality, it centers 3 girls and their teacher camping at their school, surrounded by zombies wandering the ground. It appears the world as come to an end to a zombie apocalypse and they are trying to survive. Things don't seem well for all the characters though, as Yuki Takeya (the girl with the cat hat), still sees everything occurring as if life continues normally, and more strange mysteries and serious problems appear as the manga continue further. Filled with suspense, drama, mystery, and tragedy, Gakkou Gurashi is quite a thrilling and cute ride. So... yeah, you can read it... if you want.

Tomo-chan is seriously one of my favorite things.

Heya, Cloudy here again with another horror manga recommendation. This one is a little different from the others, as in not dealing with the usual ghosts or zombie stories, but something a little more unique and bizarre.

The manga recommendation this time is Hyouryuu Kyoushitsu, or The Drifting Classroom, a manga about an entire elementary school suddening being transported to a toxic wasteland, while all the students and staff are inside. Unsure how to return to their own time and place, the students and staff try to survive with their limited resources, while strange forces threaten the lives of everyone, as well as maintaining their own sanity. Full of mystery and tragedy, it is horrifying and quite an interesting read, in terms of horror that is   Although, this may not be for the feint of heart. It can be quite heavy at times.

Haven't had much to post in here...but my Jump updates were great this week, so I figured now was a good time to get back into my routine.

One Piece: *cries forever*

This chapter reminds me once again why this manga is in a league of its own. Sanji surely knows that Luffy won't leave, he was there when Nami and Robin did the exact same thing. When Luffy stood there and screamed, and Sanji failed to hold in his own tears...uh that hurt. Luffy loves his comrades that much, even to the point where he won't become Pirate King without them.

On a more negative note...I'm not really impressed with Nami this chapter. I like that she's willing to stand her ground...and I also like that we finally see the Sanji/Nami pairing in a more serious light...but it seems odd that she can't figure out exactly what Sanji is doing here...considering her own actions during the Arlong Park arc.

Hero Academia: *rolls around*

It's finally over...and as expected, Todoroki and Wind Dude failed. I like that this manga isn't afraid to teach some harsh lessons occasionally...both of their actions were pretty idiotic considering the theme of the exam.

Fairy Tail: *shipping intensifies*

Well...the fight between Natsu and Gray was stupid and forced as all hell...but at least it's over. I like the focus on Team Natsu, with the original trio sharing a tender (but pointlessly ecchi) hug.

Shipping moment afterwards was nice...at least for the ship I care about. The way Hiro draws Na/Lu really shows how much he cares about this pairing...and I love every bit of it.

Seven Deadly Sins: *shipping intensifies more*

Hauser the new Captain? NANI?

King and Diane get a random ecchi moment...but oh well. Easily the best 7DS pairing.

One Punch Man: *picks nose and wipes on Cloud discretely*

Had to look this one up because it updates so randomly. I'm curious how well Garou will last against Watchdogman...not that I can really predict how these fights will go that don't involve Saitama. Or why anything is happening right now.

I keep saying I'll be caught up soon on Shokugeki no Soma, but I really mean it this time. Just 10 chapters left...which means I'll add this to my next update here. I'll post my overall thoughts soon...but I'm really enjoying this manga overall. The food battles can get repetitive, and are mostly predictable, but the characters are a lot of fun, and it's genuinely enjoyable to see them interact.

*rolls around Cloud's thread*

Finally caught up on Shokugeki no Soma after mentioning it for a few months straight. I'll have weekly updates on it now...but while it's still fresh on the mind, I thought I'd bring up my overall impressions. Spoilers added as needed.

  • The MC starts really annoying, essentially one-upping everyone, winning every fight in some way, and only taking 'losses' that no reader will honestly read as a loss. Over time, he becomes a lot more interesting, when the limits of his motivations become a focus, and he becomes more of a support for other characters as they begin to get development.
  • Some of the best art I've ever seen in a Jump manga...or most manga really. The way the characters are drawn, shading, detail, etc. It really blows me away. I liked it so much, I even re-read the long portions I already saw in the anime.
  • The story is known for characters giving orgasm faces after trying out different foods. I certainly don't complain, since most of the girls are extremely attractive, but this definitely feels out of place at times. Still, the author(s) seem to mock the trope itself on occasion, which is pretty amusing.
  • The food fights are rather predictable, even for this genre (or the actual genre of the series). The food explanations are interesting...but a lot of it flies over my head, and I'm forced to take the manga's word for it. This is a little annoying over long fights, especially when it's obvious who is going to win, and I'm just waiting on the manga to explain how it makes sense. I'd much rather focus on the characters interacting.
  • I like the cast a lot in this. Only a few characters I genuinely dislike (bar characters that are written to be hated). The interactions of the main group of friends seems extremely natural, and the comedy they bring is great.
  • Story takes a very...different turn around chapter 135 or so with the introduction of Azami Nakiri. Wouldn't go so far as to say, but the sudden betrayals, political agendas, and corruption give it a much different feel from the first 100 chapters. Interesting political subtext...if that's what the author was going for.
  • Erina's focus arc takes a long time to get to, given that she's the female lead, but once it's given...wow. Easily my favorite character in the story. The supposedly pampered princess definitely had more pain in her past than any other character.
  • Ties into above...but Soma/Erina is definitely my OTP. Not only because it fits best thematically...but because their interactions are easily a high point among the rest of the cast. Don't really dislike any of the other ships with members of the soft harem...other than Mayu, the childhood friend girl that appears once every 100 chapters or so. Ryou/Alice, Ibusaki/Ryoko, and Marui/Yuki are my current side-ships.
  • The Elite 10 are fun characters for the most part, especially Rindou and Tsukasa. They also take a unique turn though...basically becoming the Shichibukai over time, with several talented chefs removed to ensure the entire group aligns with their headmaster's ideals. Interesting, as it means that the Elite 10 are no longer the ten greatest chefs...but rather the ten greatest chefs that are willing to serve the World Government Central.
  • Hayama's descent was foreshadowed...but after it actually happened, I can't help but think it was a bit lacking. It's pretty obvious he's not a vilain, he's only supporting Azami out of necessity.

Overall...I enjoy it a lot, despite what it is. The characters are really what the series lives through, even if they don't get as much focus as I'd like. We'll see how my opinion changes as I read it weekly...and the padding becomes more and more apparent.

Manga thoughts! Gonna rank them by my interest this week.

Shokugeki: First weekly update! *fist pumps*

Still not offiically announced, but it seems like Souma will advance. Seems like Hayama is about to learn that he can't fight alone, while Souma has finally redeemed his failure from the Autumn Election. Seeing him push even Jun away was sad...he really has tunnel vision right now.

One Piece: *heart beats*

Crap...I might ship Sanji/Pudding now...that was great. I wonder how far Luffy will get against Mom's army. Maybe Jinbe or Brook will return to help, or maybe Luffy will lose in his battered state.

Hero Academia: NO NO NO

Cute girl has Deku's blood...no wonder she was trying to get so close to him. This...really sucks. I wonder what she's going to do with this opening. Maye someone close to him will notice the change...like Ochako!!! (or more likely Bakugou grumble grumble)

On that note...I'm glad Bakugou lost as well. He's amusing sometimes, and has a lot of talent...but he's nowhere near ready to be a hero yet. Someone needs to knock him down a peg still...or maybe 10 pegs.

Fairy Tail: *blushes*

So...am I misreading this...or is the new villain using his power to damage only characters that have had sex before? That's awkward as all hell...but interesting that Hiro would show this I guess.

I need to re-read it, but it seemed like it only affected older characters like the adults and Laxus. It would fit, since this villain appears to be Mavis and Zeref's son, and both of them are being afflicted by the magic spell.

Kind of amusing that so few females were affected though; basically just Mavis and villains if I remember right. Gotta keep those waifus pure.

Seven Deadly Sins: *stares*

Well...Kiane is cute...but I have no idea what the hell just happened. Somehow the new missing Commandments snuck in...just to fight two opponents that should be beneath them? I know this story has felt like it was on auto-pilot for a while, but the means to get to this 2:2 fight just felt really forced and awkward.

Still...the penis joke at beginning was hilarious. And no Meliodas for a whole chapter! Woo hoo!

Huge fan of Shokugeki no Soma. I don't mind his attitude at the beginning. He works hard, and he has done it since he was a kid.

The others are just rich kids part of the school because it is the "cool" thing to do as a rich kid.

The battles are pretty much not a matter of "if" he wins - but typically of "how". What is the trick or technique used to win this time.

Eh...I agree that the journey is more interesting than the destination here, but Souma's overconfidence in the beginning just felt really grating to me. I get the underdog story...even if it seems like we have enough characters from middle-class backgrounds here already (Hayama, Ryou, Takumi...all of Polaris), but it's hard for me to relate to a hero that just smirks and wins 24/7. It's why I complain about Seven Deadly Sins so much. Winning is fine...but having zero vulnerabilities makes him hard for me to care about.

It makes it worse when the author would try and pretend the MC was losing early on...like in the match where he was Megumi's sous chef and treated it as an actual loss, or when he lost to Hayama in the prelims, only to have more chefs approve his cooking. It almost felt like the author was scared to give Souma a real loss..which fortunately changed as the story went on. Fortunately that does change with the climax of the Autumn Elections and Stagierre arc, and Souma actually becomes painfully aware of his limitations, and is forced to grow past them. It takes a while, but eventually he grows into a much more relatable character.

All my opinion I guess...I'm aware that not everyone minds the perfect MC trope. It's just something I find obnoxious.
