On March 17th, 2015 Nintendo president and CEO Satoru Iwata announced a new gaming platform codenamed NX. Since then we haven't heard anything official - over the full past year. Nothing. Today is March 17th, 2016, exactly one year after the first announcement, and we still haven't heard a single word about it. 

What do think about that?

Oh btw, on this day 1 year ago Nintendo also announced that Nintendo games are coming to Smartphones. Today, their first game Miitomo launched in Japan.

The wait to hear concrete details is frustrating. Learning what this thing is and what games are coming is what I am most looking forward to this year.

Well, a) they said they'd say nothing about it until 2016, and there's 9 months of 2016 to go, and

b) they announced it on the same day as the smartphone announcement to reassure they weren't moving away from producing dedicated consoles. They may well have waited on that NX announcement otherwise.

So I'm not surprised.

He announced that Nintendo would get into smart devices..

And as a side note.. (becourse the internet would have gone cracy) said that Nintendo would remain in dedikated gaming and that they was working on a dedicated platform codenamed NX.. And that Nintendo would not TALK more about it at all in 2015.. and that they HOPED to share more infomation next year..

Its was mostly damage controll..

I hate really early announcements, so I'm both happy and annoyed they did it this way.

Happy because they haven't actually shown it yet. I don't want them to show it any sooner than 6 to 8 months before release. Most electronics have a short Window between reveal & launch and feel gaming should follow. Not just with consoles but video games (software) too.

Annoyed that they said anything about it to begin with.
