78 seems right. This game seems to suffer from the same things SFV did; tiny roster of characters, very small amount of play modes, lack of content and we don't even know how the online in this game will be (does it even have online PvP?)

It has more content than SFV. You have local and online multiplayer with customization options for the match, a much longer single player mode, 19 stages as opposed to 11, and while the roster is the same (16) it does bring in 30 support Pokemon (15 sets of 2) that spice things up a bit. It also has a proper training and tutorial mode as well as customizable single player single matches, including a special type that takes some cues from Smash (which can also be played in all multiplayer modes). There's also a absolute crap ton of unlockables. Most of the supports, two of the fighters, and most of the stages have to be unlocked. Then you have things like Avatar customizations and titles and such as well as some more superfluous but still useful stuff like the cheer skills that you pick for the announcer chick.
So with all that in mind, assuming the fighters are as varied in play style and balanced as they appear to be in videos, this would be adequate content for a new fighter IP. Not exemplary, but adequate.
