Forums - Nintendo - Aonuma talks Wolf Link Amiibo connection between Twilight Princess HD and Zelda Wii U

The problem with it being a sequel is the art style. OoT, MM, and TP all had pretty much the same art style (just better graphics) than each other. This new Zelda looks more like a fusion of Skyward Sword and the Windwaker Trilogy (one of which was before the 3 way timeline split and the other is in the 3rd timeline, not the 2nd one where OoT, MM, and TP all are).

I don't think art style have any impact on timeline.

Still would like to know what kind of stuff, but ok.

Hoping it's nothing to special, as I'm not interested in TPHD.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

So it's just a coincidence that those games are all sequels of one another?

You wrote: "This new Zelda looks more like a fusion of Skyward Sword and the Windwaker Trilogy" but that doesnt make sense beacuse SS is first game in whole Zelda timeline and SS and WW are not in same branch of timeline.

Nintendo is not paying too much attention on timeline, they making game and later they just thinking where new game would best fit in timeline, and I dont think that art style have any impact on timeline, also Nintendo already hinted that Zelda U is some kind of sequel or prequel to TP and we saw bridge in Zelda U that is very similar like that in TP.

One thing I just thought of that excited me. What if this new game branches path 2 and 3 back together?

I think its enuf complicated like it is. :)

Aonuma made similar (but firmer) remarks back in 2011 about Ocarina 3D and Skyward Sword. Obviously there are numerous story connections between Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time, such as the link between Ganondorf and the Master Sword being born, the entire 'chosen three' dynamic being set in stone, but there's also smaller stuff like the Harp of the Goddess being the harp Sheik uses in Ocarina of Time.

I'm not really sure what kind of amiibo connection there is, but I'd hope it won't be anything particularly significant. I think it's more likely here we're getting a game that relates in some way to Twilight Princess, though not in ways that mean you miss out if you haven't played TP. As with Aonuma's remarks around Ocarina 3D and Skyward Sword, the suggestion is playing the remake of the earlier game will make you appreciate certain plot elements or points in the new game, and replaying the older game after the new game will have the same effect.

We might actually see the backstory to Twilight Princess played out here, in an early version of Hyrule (so post Skyward Sword), where the 'Interlopers' (who later became the Twili) attempt to use their magic to invade the Sacred Realm?? In that sense, we'd end up seeing familiar elements from Twilight Princess, such as the Fused Shadow and the Light Spirits, without seeing characters like Midna, Zant, the Twili etc who wouldn't exist that far back.

Yep, I remember that. It was worth it.

This reeks as a prequel/sequel to TP. I like it!

Edit: how is people not discussing this? It looks like the major hint to where this will be in the timeline.

If this were a prequel/sequel I'd think Nintendo would've been smart enough to mention it before the release of TP.  Because I'm certain that would've boost sales moreso.
