Nintendo is not paying too much attention on timeline, they making game and later they just thinking where new game would best fit in timeline, and I dont think that art style have any impact on timeline, also Nintendo already hinted that Zelda U is some kind of sequel or prequel to TP and we saw bridge in Zelda U that is very similar like that in TP.

One thing I just thought of that excited me. What if this new game branches path 2 and 3 back together?

I think its enuf complicated like it is. :)
