Forums - Nintendo - The Wii U is sold out all over Japan and Nintendo isn’t talking

Perhaps they are clearing stock for the upcoming NX, but if that's the case, it seems too soon to do that. Hopefully they restock the Wii U soon. It's losing out on sales by the week.

They're not clearing stock. There are new bundles set to launch etc....

Pokken Tournament bundle will launch in two weeks from now and that'll sell a certain amount.

The Wii U is hardly loosing out on sales tbh, everyone who wants one has one and any people buying now are an extremely low number. I'd be surprised if the Wii U sell even half a million units in Japan this year, especially with the NX rumoured to release.

At the end of this day this stock out doesn't mean much. We can sum it up as such.

1. The Wii U is selling badly in Japan in 2015

2. Nintendo are producing only a small amount of Wii U's to meet demand and stop build up of inventory

3. Splatoon bundle performed well during the holidays and the Wii U sold more than expected in Japan.

4. This has led to stock shortage in January/February as Nintendo sold through more than they were producing.

5. Production is now being increased for March (Both Standard model and Pokken bundle)

6. Wii U will go back to what it was selling in March..... which wasn't much.

7. No sales lost overall.

Doesn't really make sense to me if they want to cut it short..

People are still buying it so why stop on purpose?

Oh, I didn't know a new bundle was coming out soon, so that's good to know. Thanks for that.

And I thought before the stock shortages sales are actually pretty decent for Japan. Wasn't it around 10 to 20,000 a week?

It's better than the abyssmal 3000 or so.

Sign it the end of the WiiU sadly...

It's going to be replaced that is why
I don't think Nintendo is gonna go for a large resupply

Hardware revision and huge price cut, enough so that any original Wii U would not sell after it's annoucement. This is the only logical explanation.

i don't get the 20m idea since WiiU is region based. Normally, there are a team that handles those estimates and the shortage was due to several factors, Wii U coming out, and/or better holidays sales last year.

it is just an abysmal weekly sale in japan, hopefully stocks would come in.

i think the Wii U isnt sold out in Japan but its Japanese people moving to PlayStation. Look at the 3DS numebrs, there are plenty of them and this system is dropping like hell over there too

Amazon Japan has plenty of Super Mario Maker Wii U Bundles. Its just the splaton bundle selling out but as we know SMM is just as big over there on Wii U

But the 3DS is five years old. Pretty much most of the consumers who are buying the new releases already have a version of the 3DS. Though idk the sales of the 2DS, especially since it was released along with the re-release of the original Pokemon games.

even the software dropped look who is number top 20  in latests charts
