They're not clearing stock. There are new bundles set to launch etc.... Pokken Tournament bundle will launch in two weeks from now and that'll sell a certain amount. The Wii U is hardly loosing out on sales tbh, everyone who wants one has one and any people buying now are an extremely low number. I'd be surprised if the Wii U sell even half a million units in Japan this year, especially with the NX rumoured to release.
At the end of this day this stock out doesn't mean much. We can sum it up as such. 1. The Wii U is selling badly in Japan in 2015 2. Nintendo are producing only a small amount of Wii U's to meet demand and stop build up of inventory 3. Splatoon bundle performed well during the holidays and the Wii U sold more than expected in Japan. 4. This has led to stock shortage in January/February as Nintendo sold through more than they were producing. 5. Production is now being increased for March (Both Standard model and Pokken bundle) 6. Wii U will go back to what it was selling in March..... which wasn't much. 7. No sales lost overall. |
Oh, I didn't know a new bundle was coming out soon, so that's good to know. Thanks for that.
And I thought before the stock shortages sales are actually pretty decent for Japan. Wasn't it around 10 to 20,000 a week?
It's better than the abyssmal 3000 or so.
