I agree there are times when amiibo are outright terrible, such as the Kirby power up thing, Twilight Princess, and Mario Party 10 thing, but I don't think it's the worse thing in this industry. I really like amiibo, and it's thanks to them that I can have figures like Megaman, Pac-Man, Sonic, Robin, Rosalina, and even Dr. Mario. How else would that ever happen?

I take it the reason amiibo has taken off so well is not due to the content tied to them, but the aspects of collecting, whether it is for the sake of collecting, or getting characters you like. I fall into the second category. There has been one time where I wanted the goods tied to an amiibo, but I also wanted the figure anyways, so it was a non-issue with me.

I do think the kirby thing is pretty bad, but Amiibo as the worst thing this gen? I don't agree there.

But it's a figure, which magically allows Nintendo to do whatever they want with it, right?

I agree that this UFO lock is a terrible practice if not the worst scenario of amiibo. Namely because as you said not only does the amiibo lock content from previous games in the franchise, its locked behind a brand new Kirby amiibo when there is already one out. I don't know what justifies it in Nintendo/devs eyes. Maybe its because the level design doesn't really give way to have a UFO enemy, but I find it somewhat hard to believe that's the case as the game starts off against a giant UFO.

I can't however, cosign on he notion that they are the worst thing to happen this generation. This instance is just one of the worst case scenarios. There are better implementations that make much more sense. The Smash Kirby amiibo for example, is something I find to be pretty good implementation in this game.

Side note: I don't get the comments that justify amiibo like its good by saying its making the company money, or its going to say stay whether you like, or not so choose to buy it whether you like it or not, or even wait for the game to drop in price (especially ones like this because I think you are forgetting which company this is). This are a handful of reasons we call out other companies atrocious behavior such as micro-transactions and absurd levels of DLC, etc. There a better arguments and these are pretty bad.

amiibos are awesome

Until they are gamebreaking and absolutley needed they I don't see the *beep* problem.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

It's day one DLC so yes, it's one of the worst thing s Nintendo have implemented this gen. Nintendo should focus it's use on free to play games, post launch content and quicker ways to unlock things which you can unlock simply by playing the game.

Most microtransactions are unlockable in game so amiino is actually worse.

Don't agree at all, I dont have not one single Amiibo and I still didnt had any need to buy any of them.

x86 architecture on consoles is THE worst thing this generations. Which, as usually, will only be made even worse by Nintendo next gen.

You act like those abilities are amiibo exclusive. Where is the proof of this?
