So it was a pretty diverse and complex game with a lot of personality in the past (for a Mario game)... and now they have simplyfied it alot? Well, that sucks for the fans...

Yep, you sum pretty well. Imagine all those crazy things you can't expect in a normal Mario game. Those crazy things were on the Paper Mario games. Now it's another NSMB game.

You know what's the saddest thing? I don't know if its me... but I feel like Nintendo is doing that with some of their franchises lately. Fire Emblem, 3D Marios, Star Fox... I look at their last entries and I feel disappointed.

Is kinda like Star Fox. People dont want a new Paper Mario, they want a remake of The Thousand Year Door...

For I heard, it wouldn't be the exact opposite?. Paper Mario fans wanted something like the old ones and Nintendo gave them something compeltely different... and Star Fox fans wanted a completely new game and they got a remake of Star Fox 64 xD

No. Nothing in the Star Fox universe after SF64 have ever been anywhere near good enough for Star Fox fans.

I got something that I wanted.

A Kirby platformer for the 3DS.

I am satisfied.

Yeah, that Kirby looked great. As for me, they confirmed Rhythm Heaven for the west. That's all I needed to hear. Well, that and Golden Sun 4. But that's not gonna happen.

Having unrealistic expectations is the current thing.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

It's kind of amusing that this thread gets made after every single Direct.

Yeah, no kidding. All a part of the Direct cycle: new Direct is announced, expectations are high, Direct happens, disappointments ensue, threads happen, repeat until the end of time.

What the fuck kind of thread is this? This is nothing new. Everyone has ridiculous expectations for every Nintendo direct and these expectations are hardly ever met. That's just the nature of it. It's like every time someone tells you they have a surprise for you. You get excited because you let yourself imagine ALL the things it could be. When you actually get the surprise, it's almost never one of the things you thought it would be.

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

As always then.

Went in with no high expectations - got some Star Fox - was happy.

The Direct was exactly what Nintendo said it would be.

It would have been good if it wasn't for the Paper Mari abomination.

I don't think a good Paper Mario sequel is an unrealistic expectation.

Nintendo need to just cancel the entire Paper Mario games and give us a proper Super Mario RPG 3. The first Paper Mario was fun and challenging the current itteration of the game have been so dumb down and really try to cater to kids.

Has for unrealistic expectations.... Nintendo performance over the past two years has been Mediocre at best. Splatoon and Mario Maker might be a shining star on what is horendous offering by Nintendo overall.  When Nintendo can't even be bothered to make a half decent Mario Tennis, this just goes to show how far the quality control has dropped from a company that used to make great games.

Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival Wii U - Mediocre

Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash Wii U - 4.8 Bad

Yoshi's Woolly World Wii U - 7.4 Good

Mario Party 10 Wii U - 6.5 Okay

Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Nintendo 3DS - 5.9 Mediocre

Yo-Kai Watch Nintendo 3DS -
7.2 Good
