Just seen the trailer: Visually it looks amazing... seriously, it's almost flawless at first glance! But the gameplay, eh, looked like Sticker Star 2, which is a bad thing. Good thing I won't have to add another game to my 2016 wishlist. :-p

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Thanks, that helps.

So how exactly did they "take away the combat system"? How does it work now versus the old RPG/QTE system?

And by "no partners" do you mean that the additional allied characters are no longer active participants in the story, but just battle allies?

Sorry for all the questions, this has just piqued my curiosity.

Basically combat has a lot less depth to it and a lot less variety in options and actions commands. The lack of badges, special moves, superguards, audience/stylish moves, partners, etc. reduce the game to just two actions, Hammer n Jump. Even though there are a bunch of different Hammer n Jump attacks, they all use basically the same action commands, and with the only other things you can do being run away or heal, battles get repetitive fast with no sense of progression at all. Thankfully, an even bigger problem makes all of that not even matter. The lack of experience and the resource system means you're better off avoiding every fight you can. I don't understand how they let this massive design flaw get okayed a second time.

No partners literally.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with you, and I know it's just wishful thinking. I just want to believe, and be surprised. Although I'm more surprised on how they decided to go the Sticker Star route, when it was bashed by fans. Well, I should have known that Nintendo doesn't listen to its fans pretty often xDDD.

They might not listen to fans but they do listen to consumers...

The best selling Papaler Mario games are the two that dared to be different...

Super Paper Mario is the best selling by a pretty decent margin...

And VGChartz may have TTYD about SS, but only by a tiny amount; when you consider digital sales, SS is definitely in second...

At the end of the day, sales speak louder than message boards...

Have a nice day...

This is not the game I wanted. This is the most disappointing news I've heard all week

I guess Intelligent Systems is trying to build off Sticker Star, or all the money has been going into Fire Emblem

*Paper Mario is one of my favorite series

*All 4 previous games were of great quality. I prefer console over HH. I liked Sticker Star anyway. (one of the only 3DS games I've beaten since I don't play HH)

*Graphics look amazing on the Wii U, the art style is always fantastic for Paper Mario

*Looks like Sticker Star with an extra added twist...which is fine because I actually enjoyed SS more than TTYD

Needless to say, I'm looking forward to it. Great way to end the Wii U

Have you ever played Paper Mario 1 and 2?

If so, then um... have fun with Sticker Star, and you'll understand the hate for this HD Sticker Star.

Is Intelligent Systems developing this? I refuse to believe they are.

They took away the combat by pretty much changing how you did battles. In the originals you battled similarily to Final Fantasy or other turn-based RPGs. In Sticker Star you collect stickers and use them in battle. Those stickers have pre-set moves that have attacks on them. It's not like in other RPGs where you level up or gain experience to learn better moves, all attacks are pretty much given to you at the beginning. In hindsight I probably used the wrong language to get my point accross.

As for the partners questions, well.... There is one partner through all of Sticker Star that minutely adds to the story and does absolutely nothing in battle--she isn't even playable through the whole game. It just Mario for most the adventure.
