true , when you look at it it is just an evolution from the telephone it's not like it came out of nowhere , it's just new technology overcoming hurdles incrementaly adding features when they become available and refining the user experience.
Sony would be better off looking back at there successes like the walkman etc to see that you can apply innovation to a ready market by adapting pre existing tech to fullfill or create a need.
You only have to look at history to see how many great inventions and ideas where found while looking at something else ,where a result of so many different people adding there ideas to the mix that it becomes near impossible to say who invented what, or gave rise to something radically different from what was intended to see how hard it can be to come up with the next big thing , especially hard when your looking at a product that is more evolution than revolution , and being it's about communication it's development pathway has been and will be decided by players in many seperate fields, may be Sony should look around at what others in the broad field of communication are looking at , and see if they can't use that to give themselves a guide.
