Hmm, it looks like they acknowledge it and sounds like they remain in the game. That explains why I haven't seen it yet though, since I am playing BR and as a male. The male marriage is in Conquest.

Any Conquest players atm, can you give us a check on on the gay marriage thing? That'd be great if I was wrong about this. As Sakura would say "Oh, thank goodness" xD

5x isn't enough information to reach any actual conclusions...

It could mean 80k opening shipment for Awakening. Not enough information.

Why could it mean 80k for Awakening?

The PR statement says that it sold 5x more than Awakening, the previous record holder for best launch in the the US.

It should be 60k. I didn't do the math in my head correctly.

It's definitely sold. Way nintendo talks about sales, it's notable it's sell through. They would say ship otherwise like they always do.
