He didn't bother me, IIRC I knocked him out like any other miner in Old Camp (and maybe in New Camp too and many in Swamp Camp too, I don't remember) for additional XP,    before finding the quickest by far, but very late in the game, grinding method in Gothic I, the demon respawning place in the underground  area that includes the Temple of the Sleeper.

Star Ocean 4 must have one of the worst bunch of dislikable or plainy silly characters in gaming, it's the reason I will watching the reception for SO5 very closely before deciding if I will buy it.
