In this case... it's fine. Like some mods already mentioned, there are valid situations. Plus, I think maybe we would just create a new thread instead (if it's 4 or 5 years from now).

Spam is spam. If the content of these threads really is identical, feel free to report them or PM one of us. Same goes for necrobumping, if you believe you have a good reason to do so.

I'm talking about the current trend that is obviously occurs in VGC *coughnxcough*. 

New threads about it are created every hour and drown the other discussions, altering the forum ecosystem.

How about create new rules about it like set a limit of creating the new threads about that topic to 3 every 24 hours.

But how do you define what counts as a topic? If I make a thread discussing the NX's controllers and another user makes a NX thread about its possible specs, we are not talking about the same thing, even if the console in question is the same.

Dante also suggested a limit based more so on the same user, like you said though, right now we have threads talking about the controller, the specs, the games, the platform, the price, the online package.... all based on all the information which Nintendo have announced, which is the name of it is NX, it's honestly close to torture for me when it comes to the forum topics, never so much has there been so much chatter about absolutely nothing in at least the years I've been on VGchartz.

Just like... if you wake up in the morning and think "hey, maybe the NX will get a port of Fallout 4 and also the console be a living real world Mister Handy for your home" then what I would suggest as the best option to do with that thought is add it to the previous threads where people talk about what levels of Government bodies will be using the NX's advanced AI as part of their national defense strategies!

Sad thing is I have my own speculation about the NX, it'll be a great system, and the people who hate everything about Nintendo existing on the market will still hate it, regardless of Controller, (zomg do u need 3 hands for N64) the storage media, (lol luk at the size of the GC disks, are they baby sized games for babies!!) or the special way it has for users to interact with it (zomg, waggle isn't real gaming! 150m sales, those aren't real sales, because they aren't using the console for CoD, Halo and Uncharted!) Basically the only thing which is known for sure about the NX is that it's being made by Nintendo and all that that implies.

A limit on the user? If that were the case I wouldn't be able to make a NX thread until its successor is unveiled! XD

This are interesting times for NIntendo in general. It's natural to see people talking and discussing every little detail they could get, even if there are mostly rumours.

Let's also set a limit to how many times people can post in general. I'm sick of these new users showing me up

If you know you've done a flood of threads based on (Mostly) Rumours then when there is actual information about the system from the big N in the sky, all you will have done with the other threads is just sour people to NX news before there is any.

Imagine if every time you turned on a news channel or broadcast it was just a picture of Will Smiths face, with the presenter looking at it, turning to the camera then starting to talk about what movies they might like to See Will Smith in, what his family might do if he gets those movies and Will he have a portable spin off series of the movie which Jaden will star, like... every single news channel, even if you turned on the radio, nothing but Will Smith (non) news based on nothing. After a while surely you can see how if you turned on a news channel and it was the same presenter turning around from the picture towards the camera and making Anagrams from the letters in his name... you'd be like... "fucking hell, I can't stand Will Smiths face" This to me is what the current NX threads are doing, I'm already somewhat bored of NX before it's even been shown because of it.

Bit harsh on the Fresh Prince there... but hopefully you get what I mean... or I've just gone completely mad from lack of sleep and too much NX and Will Smith!
