Sure. It is fine by me. More people get to play and they could potentially sell a few more NX things.

I don't give a shit about NX, or Zelda going to NX.
I just want to play a brand new Zelda game for Wii U, like we were promised.

Thats exactly what im thinking, The game didnt looked like a 2015 game in the game awards footage back in dec. 2014. Thats why I also doubt they dont have enough time/ressources to handle 2 version (PowerPC based Wii U Version and X86 based NX Version) for an 2016 release. All their ressources probl need to put into the wii u version to get that one finished in... |
Then pray to god that it is not as difficult, because if Nintendo had to choose I can guarantee you that the Wii U version is not the one as priority number 1.

Not too difficult. Will take to many time. Nintendo didnt even managed to give the wii u good software support in the past 3,5 years. And now they should waste time and port a game that nobody needs (because it will be on wii u anyway). |
You act surprised as if this hasn't been the norm with the franchise all the gen.

As for the idea of the NX port slowing down the release, it s already happened. If the NX is useless for Zelda games then the WiiU is a disgrace. Lol. The port is not going to "damage" the game, it will only damaged the WiiU. A DEAD console. Nintendo should focus on the future. I want the NX to be successful, don t you? Sorry but all your reasoning is deeply flawed and just reeks of desperation for something that you don t have any control on. This game will be on NX, or not. Whatever happens, Nintendo fans should be the last ones to give a crap, because we ll be the only ones who owned a WiiU and will buy a NX. So who cares if we ll get it on one or the other. This debate is pointless. |
With this argumentation you could also say Mario Kart 8 should be ported to PC.
Also zelda wont even help much for NX. What do people believe will happen? Zelda will not move millions of consoles.
Like alreadysaid multiple times, Skyward sword sold 4 mio copies on 100mio installed hw base. From 100 mio people who already GOT the console, just 4% bought the last zelda game. Now you want millions of people to get a complete new system they dont have yet to play the new zelda game?
If Nintendo wants to survive, NX NEEDS to be something compeltly different from the Wii U and also from the PS4. Something like the Wii.
Otherwhise releasing a Ps4 like console midcycle will flop horrible. doesnt matter if they have zelda or not.
From a average gamer perspective:
Most gamers just get 1 console anyway. Many probl already own a Ps4.
Many people want to play online togehter with their friends. Their friends own a Ps4. Do you think they will get NX? A system nobody they know have?
And people wont buy an NX just because of Zelda if there are Final Fantasy 15, Kingdom Hearts 3, The Last Guardian, Horizon Zero Dawn and co coming and games like Witcher 3 and Dragon age inquistition already available on Ps4.

I think the wii u version is priority number 1. We dont even know about an NX version. Its just possible. So saying wii u version is not number 1 when its maybe the only version is ridicoules.
And YES. Wind Waker HD was time wasting as well (cost 6 month). But at least they improved the game alot visually and also some of the gameplay. Zelda Wii U would most likely be a straight port if it gets ported to NX.

Do you seriously believe that they are going to let it die on Wii U weeks/days after/before a new console?

| RolStoppable said: Actually, the Wii U was sold at a loss in the beginning and for a long time. You don't need a 300% margin to sell hardware at a profit. At least try to be somewhat reasonable. If Nintendo made an average of only $10 per hardware sale, then that's still a gain compared to not making their own hardware and putting their games on someone else's machine (let's say they sell 50m units, that's $500m profit). Then they'll get $10 more per game because they don't have to pay Sony or Microsoft a royalty fee (let's say they sell 200m of their own software, that's $2 billion of additional profit compared to being a third party). They'll also get $10 for every third party game that is sold on their system (at 100m units, that's another $1 billion). Lastly, let's say that every owner of the 50m systems buys on average one additional controller which has a profit margin of $10; another $500m of profit. So Nintendo as a modestly successful console manufacturer can bring in $4 billion more in profit than a third party Nintendo that sells 200m copies of their games. This example uses rough numbers for a timespan of five years to show why there is merit to being a console manufacturer. Of course, if Nintendo does stupid things like with the 3DS and Wii U where both systems were sold at a loss for a good portion of their lifetime, then profits take a massive hit. If you make billions of losses on hardware sales instead of a profit, then you won't have much to show in the end. That's why most video game publishers choose to be third parties. Being a console manufacturer has the potential of more profits, but there is also a high risk involved that you fail. |
10$ is nothing.
If they go multiplats they would easily double their sales on their biggest franchises Mario kart, Smash, 3D mario and co. That would be like a 30-40$ increase for each of those games.

so NX is already confirmed for 2016 launch? Missed that.
Also you do know what NX is? That is can run Zelda? That it even replaces the wii u?
BTW i doubt any third party developer would give nintendo 10$ to release their games on that system. They will probl getting 10$ from nintendo to bring those games to a nintendo plattform.

Exactly as long as they release it on Wii U nintendo can do whatever they want.
