Forums - Sales - The end of Xbox is approaching

I think it is very arrogant (and quite idiotic) one's reasoning that "because i dont like this thing it should not exist anymore". The reason the brand exist is because it have public. People buy it, people like it. Yes, xbox is facing a lot of challenges, someday it may cease to exist. Everything comes to an end. But to WANT IT just because its not your consumer choice? I am a xbox owner, not that i would die over it but its my console of choice for many reasons. I aknowledge its failures but it satisfies me i the ways i need it. Now why the fuck dislike it? I sure dont hate sony or nintendo just because i dont see a reason for them to exist. Not now nor when sony, at the start of the ps3 had some thogh challenges to overcome. On the contrary, i cheered for them. Wtf guys. What the hell would you gain if xbox was terminated?

If anyone is going it would be Nintendo because no one is buying their consoles that much and it would seem Mario Kart and SSB (their biggest titles) aren't helping Nintendo consoles that much. Xbox is doing fine and making Microsoft a lot of money (second most revenue regarding gaming software). So I doubt it. Plus with your guys logic I guess Apple should stop making iPhones and iPads.

Edit: I just remember something. Rol was one of those Nintendo fans that thought at the begining that Nintendo Wii U would outsell the xbox one.

pretty on point.

why make a new box when you can turn xbox into a service licensed to all oems?

Because Sony/Nintendo wouldn't do it. Microsoft tried going that route, but it failed them. They were forced to make their own console.

Sony/Nintendo can't do it even if they wanted to.

no backbone. MS has windows.

Perhaps Nintendo quit and make some mobile games, but ms dont will quit theier making alot of money with hardware, Xbox live and their own console and pc exclusives so your word can thrown away.

Because without a home console as a beachhead, 'Xbox' would just be another footnote in the history of Value.  Better than GFWL, certainly, but about as relevant as Zune.  Sure, they can bundle 'Xbox' with Windows, right there beside whatever Microsoft calls their browser now, but people will still download Chrome, go to google, and type in "steam".  And why not?  What would 'Xbox' offer?  Without a console, it's doubtful they'd still be churning out AAA titles, much less funding third-party efforts.  It would be another generic Windows online store that no one cares that much about.  What would that get them, besides the loss of Xbox Gold revenue?

10 years ago: PC is dying! Consoles have so many exclusive games! Who even plays on PC anymore?
...Aaand the Master Race is still here and they're relevant enough to convince themselves (with a lot of mental gymnastics, of course) that PC is the best machine for gaming.
5 years ago: PS4 and the new XBox will be the last generation of consoles! They have bad graphics and don't support mods and stuff!
...Aaand consoles sell like hotcakes beyond anyone's wildest dreams, so this being the last generation is VERY unlikely.
Now: XBox is done for because of... reasons...

I'll have to see it to believe it, mate.

A bit off topic. But if Microsoft offered Sony this deal would they take it? The PS5 has to use the Windows OS and in return Microsoft will leave the console hardware market and release their games on Windows in future meaning pc and PS5. They could also keep developing a x1 type controller compatible with the PS5. Good deal?

Sony as the market leader probably says no.

A deal like this would be much more likely between Nintendo and MS.
