Noob question; is the 1.84 Teraflops of the PS4 in single or double precision?
(Basically is this 2 or 6 times stronger than PS4?)

Single precision so the new GP100 is about 6x stronger in that area ...
Far out, that's a hell of a lot of juice then.
So this is basically a card designed for 4K gaming? I mean, I can't think what else you'd need that much power for, except maybe for brute-forcing unoptimized games...

Raytracing!

Fair enough, but will there even be games that use ray tracing? I mean, won't multiplats be designed around the capabilities of PS4/X1 for financial reasons, meaning raytracing won't be viable?

Sure enough most AAA games are designed around consoles but there are a few out there like older CD Projeckt Red and Cloud Imperium Games (Star Citizen) who will be experimenting with raytracing ...
If they want to be compatible with consoles then they can opt in on a pre-baked global illumination solution instead of raytracing ...
This is the architecture I've been waiting for! Hopefully the final performance matches the impressive numbers.

That makes sense I suppose.
It's be really interesting to see how far you could push graphics at 1080p with this much raw horsepower.
Oh man that one is going to really pricey. Am more interested in their mid range gpu's.
It's nice to hear of more horsepower but I can't imagine that thing being the price of a regular 980. I imagine their new cards will be above £5-600 range. I'll likely just stick with my 980 till those cards get a lot cheaper.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
