Sure enough most AAA games are designed around consoles but there are a few out there like older CD Projeckt Red and Cloud Imperium Games (Star Citizen) who will be experimenting with raytracing ... 

If they want to be compatible with consoles then they can opt in on a pre-baked global illumination solution instead of raytracing ...
