I can't get behind the idea that gamers are to blame if they don't read up and be informed prior to buying. Street Fighter is the most universal fighter around, it appeals to everyone. It's always been a value packed franchise. There's no warning on the box or anything, it doesn't say "SF4.5.. other .5 to be available as a free DLC later". Average Joe shouldn't need to read IGN or something to be made aware the game was rushed out at $60 so that the small amount of pro players can practice. God, what a terrible release this was.

If GAF is anything to go by, sales reflect that. In the UK, anyway. Apparently less than 1/3 the week one sales of SFIV. We'll see if its the same WW.

We'll never know how much money Sony paid for this game so we can only speculate, but I wonder if this reaction and negative buzz was worth speeding up the release of a game that would have come anyway? Similar to the hundred threads we've seen regarding Tomb Raider.

Well at least the past insults have been answered.... Dead Rising 3, Titanfall, Ryse and of course Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Now Sony have done the eye for an eye thing and the salt is palpable. The negative reviews from xbox owners, many of them getting in on the content debate to have a go. With Colin, Gregg and the GameTrailers crews gone there seems to be a huge imbalance in representation in the media also but at the end of the day it is themselves they are doing out of future titles and work. When Capcom has no more steam left, they sure won´t be going to microsoft. IV will have been the last Street Fighter on a console other than PS.

I got the game last tuesday and today, I returned it (for only $30 in store credit, damn you gamestop!). I've never been huge on street fighter and I really couldn't get into it. The game plays so well but it is lacking so much. Tiny roster, negligible story, and messy servers (albeit, much better now) not even a store to buy anything. I've always been a tekken fan and I thought i could also get into SFV since i've been itching for a good fighting game but no dice. Granted, the combat and every about it feels great but, to me, coming off Tekken for decades, it feels repetitive. It's definitely harder than other fighting games, at least to me, by quite a bit. I guess I'm just too casual.

Those $30 will go to Uncharted 4 so there's that.

I... dont even get the first part of your post.

Also Xbox owners AND PS owners are bitching about content. And even PC owners. Thats what happens when you basically early access a game for $60 and without calling it early access.

And if Capcom can go PS exclusive and make it work financially, good for them. Looking doubtful though.

First part is about third party exclusives and straight out money-hats.

I paid 70 euro and I'm happy, gamers are entitled and get on any bandwagon going.

Suppose we will see how the game fares when mediacreate and npd report.... Can't be as bad as ROTR. Competitive side seems to be going incredibly well though :)

That doesn't make any sense, SFV isn't the first nor last 3rd party deal Sony has made for PS4. I mean, were PS4 owners really insulted they didn't get to play Ryse?

And there's nothing "entitled" about being unsatisfied with SFV at release. They have all this other content coming for a reason, they know they done goofed.

I've got to say, I'm really disappointed with the character's story mode. Only two to three fights and cutscenes are not even animated.

I really hope the "true" story mode makes up for this. That's sad, I was excited for this game since it was announced.

Have you bought it?

No but a lot of people were pissed about titanfall and rotr. As it appeared they were certainly money hatted.

I just stated that o paid above the normal asking price and I am very happ6 with it. Also anyone that has the game on my friends list were also very pleased. Most of the noise is coming from a very vocal minority, people that don't have the game and haven't played it and people not even on the platforms it released on.

Anyway if people want it to fail so much, might be the last street fighter.

I wouldn't call it a "vocal minority" the one doing most of the noise. I see a lot of people displeased in Gamespot, Eurogamer or spanish sites like Meristation, aside from the 77 in OpenCritic (which is not a bad score by the way, just lower than everyone expected but for a reason). I would quote Metacritic user reviews, but historically speaking that's full of people without criteria or just plain trolling, so I won't. You also have a good amount of people here which is not happy with SFV's current situation.

No one wants Street Fighter to fail. But people - definitively not a local minority - is disliking this "Early Access" model, priced at 69,99.

Nope, but my friend have it on Steam. I'll probably get it in the future, when all content is released.
