I don't have an anti Xbox agenda. I gamed on that platform from 2002 to this year. I just believe that they're not interested in competeing in the home console market anymore. I'm entitled to that opinion. You don't have to agree, but please try not to lobby assumptions about my motives and/or character. It doesn't do you any favors in a debate or exchange and only serves to derail your original argument, whatever that may be.

As far as Vita and Wii-U bombing, I don't have the data on Vita what Nintendo's gaming division made more money than Sony's gaming division last quarter so, no, it didn't bomb.

I'm making an assumption based on your words and the things you conveniently ignore. MS isn't in the console market solely for gaming but its crucial part of having a successful entertainment device. Therefore MS employees people who are passionate about gaming to handle that. The same thing goes for Sony by the way, Playstation is not just a gaming device and Sony uses the Playstation brand to push services that have nothing to do with gaming.

Its a safe bet Nintendo is relying on 3DS for profits these days. The Wii U is their biggest home console failure ever, which is most surprising given it followed their biggest console success ever.

You don't need data on Vita. Its lack of support and being virutally non existent at many retailers says it all.

Microsoft didn't hire people who were passionate about gaming. They hired Don Mattrick. They were trying to do a bait an switch, and failed. Putting Phil in place was a move to improve their gaming division, sure. But I don't believe they're interested in competeing in consoles anymore. If they were, you wouldn't see them letting their biggest and best IP go to PC. You wouldn't see them letting Titanfall go. You wouldn't see them letting the COD marketing business go. The Xbox platform is owned by the richest company out of the three by miles. They could afford to spend big, but they're not. Why? To me, it's obvious. There's no "winning" by doing what they're trying to do. They're not even competeing anymore.

And as far as units sold, it does not equal failure or success, profits do. I use to think just like you, but recently, I've come to realize that it's foolish and arbitrary to use "units sold" as a means of judging a companies successes. Nintendo is making a killing. They're doing better than either company when it comes to gaming. So, really, who's the victor? The company that sells the most pieces of plastic? Or the company that makes the most money? Ideally, those two things should go hand in hand, but they obviously don't and we're all foolish for buying into the pissing contest of "unit sales".

Oh boy... you have an anti Xbox agenda and ignore anything MS does that doesn't support your argument.

Xbox never stopped being a core gaming machine and MS never stopped pushing core games. MS tried to appeal to casuals as well and they had some success with that.

Xbox and Playstation are both entertainment boxes. Millions of people use them for other forms of entertainment outside of video games. There would be less demand for them if they were just game consoles.

X1 didn't bomb. Vita and Wii U are only the bombs this gen. MS knows their biggest mistakes with X1. It was launching with Kinect and high price. The biggest mistake with PS3 was also high price. Next gen, they need to be more competitively price and keep pumping out notable games.

Playstation 2 was the best selling console and was just a Console, with Just games.

a Console with just Games and good games, can out-sell a console with Multi-midia functions, because people only want to play games when purchase a Gaming console, and Online gaming is just a Gaming feature is not a Multimidia feature, People don't purchase Playstation, to hear Music, to see Movies, they just add those features to be more easy for people that already is playing, just do 2 clicks and use the Multimidia, that other wise would take a little while to acess the Multi-midia, if Someone want Multi-midia, so a PC, is what the person need, not a Home Console.

Billions and Billions of hours spend on gaming, much more than on the Features, the Features are nearly un-existent, in Time Usage, the features are just there for Practical use.

If someone make a Console, with very good games, good third party support, just with Games, and Online Gaming, the console can still dominate the market, just like PS1, and PS2, did.

What worked for PS2 doesn't necessarily work today. Also, it was a popular DVD player. Portable gaming devices are also being killed off by phones given their many functions and gaming.

The masses don't a want a gaming device that doesn't do video streaming. Quite frankly, that's less value.

So Don Mattrick represents all the passion in gaming at MS? This is why I say you have an anti Xbox agenda. You say crap like that and give no credit to people at MS that make notable games.

It seems like your idea of competing is money hatting Titanfall 2 and buying the marketing of CoD. You don't want to give them credit for making or funding good games I guess.

MS does spend a lot of money. They have a lot of games coming, I assume more games will be announced this year, we don't know what marketing deals they have planned with 3rd parties. It sounds like you aren't happy unless MS is wasting an endless stream of money.

Nintendo's success right now has more to do with the 3DS, not Wii U. By the way, you're very critical of MS not competing enough. But you boast about NIntendo even though they are barely relevant in the home console market. If NIntendo is doing so well right now financially, maybe you should criticize them for not buying Titfanfall exclusivity or CoD marketing. :-p

Xbox needs that dj khaled motivation coaching right now lol

Most likely, it's not happening anytime soon. I'm not a fan of Xbox, but I certainly don't want Microsoft or Nintendo to jump into releasing ninth generation consoles. That'll prompt Sony to join in, too. I like when consoles have a long life span. I'd say 2020 or after is when they'd likely want to release a successor. Xbox One still has a long way to go. Besides, I doubt they would jump into releasing a successor to the Xbox One when it hasn't even been on the market over 3 years.

Only one thing I can't REALLY believe : how can people call the successor of X1 = XBox TWO ??!! 'One' has a meaning, all in one box, exactly like it was for XBox 360; 360 has a meaning, it is NOT a stupid number, it means 360 vision; how the hell can someone equipped with a brain call the successor of X360 then XBox 720(like they did), or XBox TWO, like they are doing now; I'm not talking about the OP, of course, he just copied the name; this amazes me, the stupidity of some media and so called journalist.

I doubt there will be a successor soon. Perhaps an XBox Stream sku in a few years. No drive, cloud specialized version with hdmi 2.0 output for 4K streaming.

Yes, it indeed work, a Console just need good exclusives and good games to stay strong agaist the competitor, Nintendo, simple does not have Sucess, because their policys take consumers away, they charge too much for something that is cheaper, they still have Region Lock, and the games are locked to the Console, not to the Account.

Playstation 3, was the cheapest Blu-ray reader, so why Playstation 3, did not had the sucess of Playstation 2 ?, because a lot of games that were exclusives became multiplataform, and Xbox 360, also had a lot of good games early in his cicle, the Playstation 3, begun to release their truly big exclusives in 2009, and Beyond, the Wii, was sucessful because had the Wii Mote, and games that even who were not a gamer, played for fun, i saw the Wii, on Medical Station, helping the people with the "Motion Gameplay", so was a console with exclusives that had a lot of use, by gamers, and even by non-gamers.

I Don't believe that people purchase Console for Multimidia, is because of the Games, today we have a lot cheaper options of Multimidia, and if we had Something like the Playstation 2, just focused on Gaming, and with a lot of Good exclusives, of course would sell the same, or even more than the Playstation 2.

Master System, is the Brazilian's Best seller console, still selling on Xbox One, and Playstation 4, levels on the country until nowdays, together with the Playstation 2, more than 5 Millions of units sold, selling over 150 Thousands per year (multiple times more than Xbox One, on japan), and is just a Game Console, people buy it for the games, to play Sonic, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and other games, people prefer to play on Consoles.

Brazil, is not alone, the Playstation 2, even after the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii, launch, the Playstation 2, still sold over 20 Millions of units from 2008, to 2012, over 5 Millions per year, nearly on a faster speed than Xbox One, is selling nowdays, and he had other 3 competitor, also other 3 Next gen consoles, to compete with.

2019 seems the right year, and XBOne is selling decently enough, particularly considering its bad start and PS4 domination.

Humm not sure people will felt for it again, like i did and i'm stuck with a kinect that i did not want but was force to get since MS said so.

I sure wont and i probably wait at least 1 or 2 year after it release to see how it goes.
