I mean I guess it's bad for list wars and all but let's think about it.

More options and more games for more gamers. Sounds like good news to me.

More profit options for Microsoft since the games dont always turn a profit on the Xbox as well. Better for gamers who dont want an Xbox.

Honestly though why bother buying a Xbox One?

If you have a decent PC, and you get most of the games the XB1 gets, and you dont have to pay for xbox live gold membership.

Its good for gamers, bad for people Xbox One sales down the line. This will end up hurting sales if it keeps going this way.

Which is why it is an objective victory for the gamer. You can have all of your games on one system. Everybody gets to play all the games!

If you say so. To me, that's a proposed future I hope will never come to pass.

Well if there are any inherent positives you might be able to take away from this propsed future, at least 95% of the console war flame material will have been abolished

Unless, as a mod, you consider that job security hehehe

As an aside, do you think a console monopoly would even appear (with the top dog assumedly being the PC) if the industry of digital games and game streaming advances at an exponential rate? With the distinct possibility of widespread game streaming becoming a reality in the future, and all the devices you could do this on (imagine streaming a game directly to your TV with an app, without need for a console) I do agree that consoles will eventually die out - just like Netflix replaced the need for DVDs and DVD players (although people still view movies in theatre). Unless of course they adapt with the times and establish their distinct identity in a future market based heavily on digital and streaming.

I doubt it is any consolation (hehe puns) but I see this future happening far before exclusives are available on one service/platform. For example, consoles will be gone, but there will still be different streaming services who boast different exclusive products, much like HBO Go vs Netflix vs Shomi etc.

SO to summarize, the death of consoles will not be to loss of exclusives, it will be to the rise of game streaming. Of course, this is just my prediction.

Thoughts?

It's true I don't like Xbox One. But as a console lover this is really sad news. It seems I did the right choice by investing in PS4.

If that happens, it will make it more like PC is today (which, in your defense, things are already headed there). I guess my nostalgia kicks in with these things. I've always appreciated the option of multiple machines, because despite their similar gaming libraries, there was always something different on each (be it games or features). To centralize that, sure has some positives, but it has some negatives as well.

In short, the Xbox may not be my favorite brand/first choice, but it's a brand that I buy into and wouldn't want to see die off. Thanks for making this a good convo, too (I'm a sucker for those :P)

No problem, I enjoy a good conversation as well. Also I bolded a sentence in my post above that shows my own subjective vindication to all games being available on all platforms. Well, pertaining to the site at least

Threads like this one have no place in a Microsoft discussion. Personally I couldn't care less about any game going on PC. More support that a game can get will ensure financial health and greater chance to fund a sequel or more great game from developer. Don't be short minded and care about meaningless consoles wars. The focus should be on great games coming for our entertainment.

Biggest nightmare come true?? LMFAO

I will never understand this mentality. Games that are still available on a console I purchased, are now available on PC, so other people can play. Shouldn't this same logic be put on SF5? And before I get bombarded with lists, try to imagine a list where quality is subjective, and quantity isn't everything, meaning not everyone cares about JRPGs (a lot of Xbox fans do not). In my case, how do game releasing on PC (something I do not have), affect me? If you're into defending your purchase, I guess I can relate, but me? No.

Disappointed? No.
Mad at MS? No.
Exclusive games of a console important for me? No, I don't justify my purchases.

You had interest in an Xbox One?

Is a Little bit different, Street Fighter, born on Arcades, and went to Consoles, the last game sold less than 8% of the Total sales on PC.

Quantum Break, is a Alan Wake sucessor, the game launched on PC, 2 years later, and over 55-60% of the Total Sales were on PC, this means that Microsoft, could get a lot of PC gamers to Xbox, because of Quantum Break exclusivity, and now the Pc Gamers, will stay on PC.

I doubt Sony will their 1st Party stuff on PC. They'll keep doing what they're doing, sharing their 3rd party titles with the PC community. Microsoft has a different reason for the supporting the PC this way, and maybe it's better for them.

* adjusted the OP to reflect the official news *

Short term yes Sony will want to keep their first party games exclusive, but in the long term Sony and all Platform holders are going to want their online stores on as many platforms as possible imo.

Wrong, they will not want to make it the "Playstation Now" is something for people to play games that are not selling anymore, old Tittles.

Do you know how much Money a Plataform can give without you making any game ?, the Playstation 2, had 1.6 Billions of Software sales, if all were Third Party, Sony, would have take the money of 320 Millions of Software, without making the games (20% Tax), this is Multiple times more than Gran Turismo's Franchise.

Microsoft, are Releasing their games on PC, not because they are starting to look to the "Future", is because they are loosing much grownd for Playstation,  and will face other 2 competitor that are Nintendo NX, and Playstation VR, this year, that will eat the sales in the only 2 months that Xbox One, sell well.

I think that VG Chartz's estimate about Xbox One, is not right, i think that Xbox One, did not even Shipped 20 Millions units, how much Units shipped Xbox One, had in september 2015, last time they announce ?, 14 Millions Shipped ?.

Microsoft, is losing Third Party Sales, because of that is more profitable to release on PC, because their sales already are too slow with Xbox, and they are no longer trying to defeat Playstation 4, in Sales.

As someone who will never get an XB1, this just means I'll get to play the game on my PC.

Not mad at all. Dont understand why this shit keeps happening with all these bs threads. So big damn deal its coming to pc, pc is not a console so I dont give a shit. Is the game coming to ps/ Nintendo system no its not then its still a console exclusive . Like sf5 is
Also more ppl play the game , mean more games being made for xbox down the road. A win - win I think
