Story is not too shabby, but the game will bore you quite often. Can play this when you have have absolutely nothing else to play

Hmm?... Is the story better than SOMA's?
Finished it in one sitting. That's not to say it was just that good of a game. As Holo said, it is more of an experience. I generally like these kind of games (Telltale, Life is Strange) but just felt that Firewatch was lacking. It was marketed quite differently in the promos, giving it a somewhat different vibe that what it turned out to be. Took around 4 for the credits to roll.
Here is what i said i said in the review thread, "Game has cool premise and setting. The first half was quite interesting, building up to the climax but nothing really materializes. You slowly walk forward hoping that the ending will have an interesting pay off but well it just kind of fizzles out."
I got to say the voice actors were great. If they sucked those 4 hours would have felt twice as long.

Wow, you guys totally killed my hype for this game. lol
I'll probably drop it to the bottom of my list now.

Unfortunately, haven't played SOMA yet. But let's just say, you expect (or hope for) story to unfold in one way, and it takes another direction...as I said, maybe devs intentionally did that (can't get more into that, since it would be spoilers), but it left me (and it seems a lot of other folks) a bit underwhelmed. Hopefully, other devs will try the same format, hopefully with a bit better stories.
I would still recommend it though, just not at current price.

Sorry man. Just wait for more impressions. I mean it reviewed pretty damn good. Maybe just didn't click with me as i was expecting more of a mystery in the story.

Yeah, I was kinda hoping when you finally break into Wapiti that some X-Files level mystery will be revealed, but alas.
It looks interesting, but i'll be waiting until it's $10 or less.

I feel this game got way more praise from some reviewers than it deserved from what I have see/heard from normal gamers. All the input I can give on the matter.

2nd reply on this:
Now that I played SOMA for some time....well, Firewatch is not really similar to SOMA. I would clasify latter as exporation horror with some puzzles (tbh, only game from Fractional that I really liked is Penumbra which was much scarier and had much more puzzles), Firewatch is exploration game...no horror, no puzzles really.
As for story, I find SOMA to be interesting in some aspects (ARK), while pretty cookie-cutter with other (WAU). Firewatch on the other hand has a story that builds to a certain point, but that is misleading and as aleady mentioned fizzles to not much in the end. Oh and that horrible VO in SOMA...Firewatch is really good in that.
Anyway, as I said, I still recommend it as experience, just wait for price drop or sale.
