I'm okay with you not liking me if that's your perogative.

Hey Curl, your a great poster and I am not saying anything here to annoy you.
The problem with what Curl says is he has not really played the game. I believe he watched someone play it on youtube. So for him to hate it so much is kind of funny because he ...has not even played it. He asks why do we defend it so much, because we have actually played it. Sounds pretty straightforward to me.
It is his perogative to say he hates anything he wants, it just holds no weight when he has no experience with the actual game. At least moron reviewers have at at least played it, even though they have to rush through most games and do not get the actual experience of anything. That is something Curl cannot say. All he can really say that is of any fact is he hated what he saw on some random youtube video that was probably made by some European Nintendo hater that wanted it to suck anyways.
So let us not worry so much about what someone who has not even played the game says, let us listen to those who have actually played it. Obviously all the love that keeps coming out for this game proves that spurgeonryan is not the only one. Which means there must be at least some truth to my convictions.
The only flaws that I have seen with it is the actually funny glitch where the bodies you cut in half get stuck in the wall. Not even sure if it is intentional or not. I think maybe he was thinking that you would stab them in the wall and leave the sword there. But then did not want to make you find a new sword.
As for the levels, they are a bit compartmentalized, but still mostly open. Who says a game has to be open world each and every time? Besides that there is nothing wrong with it. So sit back, pull out a cigarette and have fun watching Ivan cut ninjas in half! Then come online and play some multiplayer in all of its awesome glory!

No offense taken.
I have played the game, just not the whole thing. To do that I would've had to either borrow it or buy it, and I didn't want to do either since I didn't enjoy the time I did spend on it.
I did watch the rest of the game on youtube out of curiosity, but since I had already experienced the way the game controlled and felt, I could glean everything else I wanted to know from watching. Issues like AI and bugs can be observed just by watching, for example.
Honestly, I wouldn't even say I "hate" Devil's Third. Dislike is more how I feel. If you want to hear hate, ask me about Metroid Other M, The Order 1886, or anything by Quantic Dreams some time. ;)
