Forums - Gaming - What new gaming genres have you got into lately??.

I would say I've gotten more into stealth now recently and a sub-genre of shooters, the clunky controls kind of tactical shooters ...

Splatoon got me into 3rd person shooters

I'm a bit late to the party but Metroid Prime is kind of getting me more into FPS. I played CoD and Halo before and they were okay. Metroid Prime is kind of scaring me though. Not in a "scream" way but it's eerie.

Halo got me back into shooters, I never really played too many shooters it's still mainly halo but I like games like Crysis now too.

Racing games. I've recently bought Need for Speed and the hours are flying by tbh

First person exploration games (aka "walking simulators"). Just started playing them and I'm crazy about them.

It's funny, I actually just made a video about them and how I hate the "walking simulator" name, which I'm publishing tomorrow. I'll plop it here because why the heck not. DILL WIT IT.

Well its not a new genre for me, but Ori and the Blind Forest got me back into 2D side scrollers. I finished Catherine rather late and that got me back into Japanese style puzzle games.

Haven't really gotten that much into walking simulators (:P) yet, I might try some.
Not sure I would like story driven ones, I liked Portal due to its puzzly challenge.
Any suggestions? Antichamber?

BTW I remember you linked your youtube channel before, but that last Hammer Bros video you have is great, congrats!
But the best way to "beat" a Hammer Bros is to run past them (or from under like you say)

You say tomato, I say tomato

"¡Viva la Ñ!"

I wouldn't say new but Dragon's Dogma and XCOM 2 have pulled me slightly back towards JRPG's and TBS.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Actually Antichamber is probably the only similar game that I would recommend to you because it is very puzzley and mind-bending.  I can't think of any others like that off the top of my head.  I guess Kairo has a lot of puzzles, though it's quite simplistic.  I might watch a few videos on that one if I were you.

And thanks!  :D
