CRash is not sony's mascot edit your thread

he was originally so he can count. The new crash game isnt out yet so let him still fall under that.

But if you really want a mascot for Sony... choose Ratchet or Jak.

Jak and Ratchet were never mascots... Ever... Sales are just not high enough. A true mascot competes against Mario, like Sonic, and Crash. Until Ratchet, or Jak, have sold more than 39 million games, they are not as popular as Crash, nor can they be considered a true mascot. I liked Crash. I grew up with him. I enjoyed Ratchet too. More so than Jak. I absolutely loved the first Jak and Daxter game. It was really well done. But I hated Jak 2 and Jak 3. Very ugly, depressing, and the characters were hidious. Ratchet and Clank is good. Kind of boring sometimes, but good. I don't like Sly Cooper much though. Can't wait for the new Ratchet game. It's going to kick ass.

Anyways, Sony never made Jak, or Ratchet (escpecially not Jak AND Ratchet, but Jak OR Ratchet, since Sony can only have one, like everyone else) a mascot, unlike Crash, which they did with the PS1, because Crash was just more popular. It's been such a long time ago, that's why people don't seem to remember the power he had on Sony. He was more of a video game icon before, than now. Sonic is kind of losing its power too, especially with those newer games coming out. When you see a picture of Sonic, you immediately thing, "Oooh... Sonic the Hedgehog 2," not "Oooh, Sonic the Hedgehog for the Xbox 360." Same with Crash. When you look at him, you think "Oooh... Crash Bandicoot 2," not "Oooh, Crash of the Titans." He sucks now, like almost every other mascot that was good in the past. I personally would have much rather had Sony stick with Crash (Spyro is debatable. He is good, but I found his games a little too childish) in the PS2 generation. Oh well... At the end, they are all good.

Anyways, Ratchet and Jak are closer to being a mascot on the PS2, than Crash, but, Crash is PS1s mascot, more so than Ratchet and Jak for the PS2. I wonder if Sony will replace their platform franchises again, later in the PS3's life. Maybe we'll have...

Mr. Claws and the Giant Gopher

and...

Zeezee the Monkey

Who knows...

he was never sony's property so how can he be a sony mascot???  i would say... ratchet or jak too but not crash

So Jak can be Sony's mascot, but not Crash Bandicoot, because Crash Bandicoot wasn't made by Sony, but Jak was, even though Naughty Dog made Crash Bandicoot, and Jak, and Sony announced that Crash Bandicoot was their unofficial mascot... Hmmm... Interesting.

And Spyro the Dragon was never Sony's mascot, so why would Ratchet? Insomniac never makes the mascots. It's always Naughty Dog, and it was only for the PS1. PS2 has no mascot. Crash is PS1s mascot. Stop arguing. Man, it's annoying. I know the facts. I've read hundreds of reviews online. Many professional reviewer, who reviews a Crash game, or Jak game, makes a statement of Crash being Sony's goto boy, or mascot, or king of the PS1, or some kind of remark like that. Just stop arguing, and instead, say, "Oh, I didn't know that."

You forgot about Blinx!

(i'm not sure if Microsoft's cutesy mascot was supposed to be blinx or the mouse from sneakers...or the boat from bloodwake).

Blinx would have been Microsoft's mascot, but he failed. He was never a star like Crash, Sonic, or Mario. He fell right out of the game case. All his games got reviews between 60-79%, which isn't considered good for a mascot. I guess Master Cheif is Microsof's mascot. If that's for sure, then he would make the first, first person shooter mascot, instead of a platformer mascot. But if the rule is, "only platformer characters can be mascots," then I guess Blinx would have to be Microsoft's mascot, even though he failed.

I think most of you can't remember before the PS2 days. Some of you are saying that Crash was never owned by Sony. That is correct, in the PS2 days. Some of you are saying that Crash always sucked. That is correct, in the PS2 days. Some of you are saying that Crash was never that popular. Again, that is correct, in the PS2 days. In the PS2 days... In the PS2 days... In the stupid PS2 days... Is there anyone out there that remembers the PS1 days? Anyone out there that remembers all of those Crash Bandicoot commercials that littered the T.V? Anyone remember all of those news articles of Crash Bandicoot, rivaling Sonic, and Mario?

Anyone remember those news articles with Crash, Sonic, and Mario, all pictured, representing their companies? Anyone remember that? Anyone remember going to video game stores, and seeing a picture of Crash Bandicoot that reffered to the PS1 isle, a picture of Sonic that referred to the Saturn, or Dreamcast isle, and a picture of Mario that reffered to the Nintendo 64 isle? (Well, maybe not in video game stores, or at least, not just video game stores, but basically with anything regarding video games). I've played all of the mascot games. Every single Mario game. Almost every single Sonic game (before he went bad). Almost every single Crash game (before he went bad), and sorry to say, Ratchet and Jak, although good, just don't possess the magic that they had (at least I personally think so, but I'm not alone... Or so I think I'm not...) Like I said, Jak and Daxter was very good. It was "Mario" quality. Or at least almost...

But Jak 2 and Jak 3? They took everything I loved about the original, and threw it down the drain. Never got into the Sly's. A theif can never be a mascot anyways. Looks kind of bad for the company. LOL, if Sony's mascot was Sly, people would be making jokes about Sony stealing and stuff. Anyways, Ratchet is okay too. The first one was just a little bit boring, and repetitive. The others are good too. Far better than any Pac-Man World, TY the Tasmanian Tiger, or Blinx (oohh the agony...). Well, I guess those platformers weren't that bad, but they didn't measure up to Ratchet, and definitely couldn't touch Mario.

surely the ps1 mascot is tombi!

Insomniac is Sony's 2nd Party Dev... why cant Ratchet it when Insomniac only makes games for Sony. Actually.. Ratchet is a wuss, Sgt. Nathan Hale from Resistance Fall of Man should be the mascot.. he is cooler.

No. Tomb Raider is not PS1s mascot. You guys don't understand that a mascot is not the company's best franchise. Some people say that Link is better than Mario, yet nobody says that Link is Nintendo's mascot. Crash Bandicoot is PS1 mascot. For sure. PS2 doesn't have a mascot. It's not Jak, or Crash, or Sgt Nathan, who only exists in the PS3, and is ugly as sin. There is no replay value in Jak and Ratchet's games. If there was, you would see many speed runs in both games. I you go on Youtube, you will see that there are no speed rungs for any of the Jak games, and maybe one or two for the Ratchet games. That's not saying that they are bad games, but there's no replay value to them, and they are temendously easy to beat. Even Mario 64 was harder than them. But in Crash Bandicoot, there is tons of replay value. Especially in Crash Bandicoot Warped, where you eagerly want to play the same level again, to try to beat your time record. PS: Crash Team Racing is the second, or third greatest kart racing game in the world, next to Super Mario Kart, and Mario Kart DS, or just Mario Kart DS. Well, at least that's what all of the reviews say. If Naughty Dog kept Crash in the PS2 era, he would have beaten Sonic by now, but barely miss Mario. Barely. Each of his games on the PS1 were better than the next. Unlike the Jak games where each game was a little worse, ending at Jak X, which got reviews in the 70%s, compared to Crash Team Racing, which got reviews of around 91%. If the trend continued, Crash may be up to 96% on the PS2. Instead, Naughty Dog made another great franchise, but had to start from scratch. Could you imagine if Nintendo sold Mario to third party developers, and made a new mascot named Billy the Bobcat, who had rosy red cheeks, a purple hat that said Nintendo on it, and blue shorts?

"Sgt. Nathan Hale from Resistance Fall of Man should be the mascot.. he is cooler."

ya, but no one knows that guy! rofl

I am WEEzY. You can suck my Nintendo loving BALLS!

Did you know that there are only four first party Sony games, on the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP, that sold more games, than each of the Crash Bandicoot games? All four of those games belong to one franchise. That's right. Only four Grand Turismo games, on any Sony console... Ever... Are the only first party, Sony games, that managed to outsell each of the three Crash Bandicoot games. You know. I wonder. Why did they sell so much? I know I liked Crash Bandicoot, but seriously... Over 7 million per game? I mean, only one game, on Xbox, or Xbox 360, managed to outsell them, and that was Halo 2.

Sony messed up big time when they sold the franchise. Crash Bandicoot would have sold about 9 million games on the Playstation 2, if they kept the franchise. Instead, Jak and Daxter, which is still an amazing game, only sold over 3 million. Jak 2 got around 2 million, and Jak 3 got around 1 million, and Daxter didn't even hit 1 million. The Ratchets did better than the Jaks, review-wise, and sales-wise, except Jak 1 outsold everybody, and got third place in top review for a PS2 platformer. Three Ratchets got sales of around 2 million, while two didn't hit even 1 million. Only 1 Sly game. Just one. Barely edged the 1 million mark.

Funny thing is, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex (not nearly as good as its predecessors), beat every single Jak, Ratchet, and Sly game, by selling almost 5 million copies, making it the 13th best selling Playstation 2 game of all time. Only 11 titles outsold it. Only 2 first party Sony games outsold it on the PS2 (one franchise, because both games are Grand Turismo games). Seeing that there is well over a thousand PS2 games, this is mighty impressive. But I will admit that Wrath of Cortex is not better than Jak and Daxter, and the Ratchet and Clanks (sorry, I have to say that it is better than Jak 2, and Jak 3. Awful, awful games. Just awful. Horrible levels. Boring. Ugliest characters. Jak sounds like a complete asshole. When compared to Crash Bandicoot, Jak 2 and 3 look like garbage. Completely depressing. Stupid how the hero Jak kills the innocent people (what kind of hero is that), looks even uglier with Dark Jak. And WTF is Light Jak? No replay value... At all... A complete insult to Jak and Daxter, the original (that game was a masterpiece), repetitive level design, bad voice acting, bad music... Oh look at the time, I better finish this up... Oh, and those are my personal opinions by the way, so please don't criticise them... Awful, awful games...). But the Ratchets are just fine.

Nothing wrong with any of them. They're pretty fun, and unlike the Jak's, at least they're colorful. If PS2 were to have a mascot, Sly would definitely not be one of them. Just not enough sales. Jak "would" have been the perfect mascot, but Jak 2 and 3 had to come along, and ruin them, and as proof, Jak 2, and Jak 3, got worse reviews than Jak 1 (Jak 1: 90-91%. Jak 2: 88%. Jak 3: 85%. Jak X: 76%), and considerably lower sales (Jak 1: 3.4 M) (Jak 2: 2.3 M) (Jak 3 1:5 M) (Jak X less than 1 M. Unknown). Sony would be rich if they kept the formula from the original Jak game, true in the sequals. Either that, or keep Crash alive. Or, if they could, have both. Crash and Jak (based on the original formula, not the mutated one seen in Jak 2). Ratchet is cool though. I always thought the Spyro games were too kiddish for my taste, but Ratchet is a breath of fresh air. PS2's closest (but still not) mascot is definitely Ratchet. Nintendo: Mario Sega: Sonic Microsoft: Master Cheif Sony PS1: Crash Sony PS2: Ratchet Sony PS3: Ratchet???

Sorry, Ill say the true PS2 Mascot. KRATOS!!!! God of War and God of War 2 are awesome. Sorry didnt want to bring the god of war into all this heh.
