Did you know that there are only four first party Sony games, on the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP, that sold more games, than each of the Crash Bandicoot games? All four of those games belong to one franchise. That's right. Only four Grand Turismo games, on any Sony console... Ever... Are the only first party, Sony games, that managed to outsell each of the three Crash Bandicoot games. You know. I wonder. Why did they sell so much? I know I liked Crash Bandicoot, but seriously... Over 7 million per game? I mean, only one game, on Xbox, or Xbox 360, managed to outsell them, and that was Halo 2.

Sony messed up big time when they sold the franchise. Crash Bandicoot would have sold about 9 million games on the Playstation 2, if they kept the franchise. Instead, Jak and Daxter, which is still an amazing game, only sold over 3 million. Jak 2 got around 2 million, and Jak 3 got around 1 million, and Daxter didn't even hit 1 million. The Ratchets did better than the Jaks, review-wise, and sales-wise, except Jak 1 outsold everybody, and got third place in top review for a PS2 platformer. Three Ratchets got sales of around 2 million, while two didn't hit even 1 million. Only 1 Sly game. Just one. Barely edged the 1 million mark.

Funny thing is, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex (not nearly as good as its predecessors), beat every single Jak, Ratchet, and Sly game, by selling almost 5 million copies, making it the 13th best selling Playstation 2 game of all time. Only 11 titles outsold it. Only 2 first party Sony games outsold it on the PS2 (one franchise, because both games are Grand Turismo games). Seeing that there is well over a thousand PS2 games, this is mighty impressive. But I will admit that Wrath of Cortex is not better than Jak and Daxter, and the Ratchet and Clanks (sorry, I have to say that it is better than Jak 2, and Jak 3. Awful, awful games. Just awful. Horrible levels. Boring. Ugliest characters. Jak sounds like a complete asshole. When compared to Crash Bandicoot, Jak 2 and 3 look like garbage. Completely depressing. Stupid how the hero Jak kills the innocent people (what kind of hero is that), looks even uglier with Dark Jak. And WTF is Light Jak? No replay value... At all... A complete insult to Jak and Daxter, the original (that game was a masterpiece), repetitive level design, bad voice acting, bad music... Oh look at the time, I better finish this up... Oh, and those are my personal opinions by the way, so please don't criticise them... Awful, awful games...). But the Ratchets are just fine.

Nothing wrong with any of them. They're pretty fun, and unlike the Jak's, at least they're colorful. If PS2 were to have a mascot, Sly would definitely not be one of them. Just not enough sales. Jak "would" have been the perfect mascot, but Jak 2 and 3 had to come along, and ruin them, and as proof, Jak 2, and Jak 3, got worse reviews than Jak 1 (Jak 1: 90-91%. Jak 2: 88%. Jak 3: 85%. Jak X: 76%), and considerably lower sales (Jak 1: 3.4 M) (Jak 2: 2.3 M) (Jak 3 1:5 M) (Jak X less than 1 M. Unknown). Sony would be rich if they kept the formula from the original Jak game, true in the sequals. Either that, or keep Crash alive. Or, if they could, have both. Crash and Jak (based on the original formula, not the mutated one seen in Jak 2). Ratchet is cool though. I always thought the Spyro games were too kiddish for my taste, but Ratchet is a breath of fresh air. PS2's closest (but still not) mascot is definitely Ratchet. Nintendo: Mario Sega: Sonic Microsoft: Master Cheif Sony PS1: Crash Sony PS2: Ratchet Sony PS3: Ratchet???
