Forums - Gaming - What's the Most Brutal Game You've Played in the Current Generation

Gears of War for the chainsaw and the realism.

No More Heroes is cell-shaded, so I don't think it have some gore like when you cut some Locusts with a chainsaw... ok, it is true that in No More you kill LOADS of plp (I take 18 hours to finish the game, and have missions that you kill 50 enemies in 3 minuter), but it isn't extreme brutal realistic gore, it is only killing people for fun...

Brutality in terms of physical brutatlity: Condemned, without a doubt.

Brutality in terms of difficulty this generation: Nothing particularly comes to mind, at least that I have yet to play. Resistance and Gears of War could both get pretty hairy though.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Brutality : Gears of Wars

Difficulty : Pursuit Force ( yes , its a PSP game , but man its difficult ) .

Umbrella Chronicles was actually really hard (if you went for the good ratings) however I eventually became very skilled and it became a lot easier. RE4 on professional was brutal too. Still, nothing 'impossible' comes to mind.
Although I know it's not what the OP meant, No More Heroes was very brutal even though it was cell-shaded, because not only did you kill people, but you killed those who surrendered, old ladies, and even (watch out, spoiler!) your own sister. All with a smile on your face. That's not very moralistic, don't you agree?

Don't even remind me about RE4 on hard mode.
