Been meaning to get a Master System and try it out.

I'm really curious about Phantasy Star, and the 8-Bit version of Sonic the Hedgehog.

Alex Kidd in high tech world was a port of some other game, in a similar way to Mario 2 here in the west, if I'm not mistaken, it's no wonder it was confusing xP

Was Streets of Rage good on it? Because I loved the Mega Drive games!
Played all those others and all of them you listed and enjoyed all of them xD

Yeah that was the weirdest port job back then lol.

Shinobi World was probably my fave despite me also loving the original.

SoR was ok but I feel the MD version was better in various ways, same way I felt about Sonic Chaos on the GG (so random for a handheld sonic game to play better for me than the home console version, then again portability at that time was a huge seller for me).

I still own my system but I really wouldn't mind buying a retrofitted one to work with modern TV's and just grab some old carts for the sake of it.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Well, that was a fun and interesting read, especially since I never owned a master system. I don't think I ever even saw one... I was too young to know what it was. My fist time with Sega was with the Genesis. That was a good system too.

I didn't know there was a Sonic game on it. Actually, I would say Sonic 1 was more of a traditional platformer as well. He didn't go quite as fast, so it was more of careful jumps and moving forward. Still a fun game though.

I am familiar with Alex Kidd and Fantasy Zone though.I heard those were excellent games as well, haha.

I'm pretty sure there is some of this games in digital store like the PSN/LIVE/VC, it's also a pretty old system, if you are ok with emulation I don't see a problem on trying it out there.

Sonic is a pretty short game (like a bunch of games on that gen), Sonic 2 is larger, harder and with more stuff, but I find 1 way more charming than 2.

Phantasy Star is pretty cool too.

There was a Sonic 2 on it as well...??

I don't mind doing emulation when I can't access the game easy. Not sure if I can play any atm though. I'm busy with other games, haha...

At first. I thought Mega Drive/Genesis & Game Gear were first Sega's consoles back in 1992, until year 2006 i figured out that SG-1000(1983) was first Sega's console then Master System(1985) as an upgraded console. I was surprised that Master System is an 8-bit console with ENHANCED graphics for 1985, i also thought Game Gear was a thing, nope. xD And... Sigh sadly, this console was overshadowed due to NES being popular.

Considering Sega Master System was my first console i ever played because i've played Game Gear.
Sonic Chaos, Jurassic Park(bitchplz), Wonder Boy 3, Streets of Rage & Phantasy Star are my favorite Master System games all.

I was always very surprised at the Master System's success in Brazil. You don't see something like that happen very often!

Yes, Sonic 1, 2 and Chaos were the three games on the Master System.
1 and 2 are graphically equivalent even as I find 1 scenarios better overall, and Chaos was in a different style, pretty much like 1, 2 and Knucles on the Mega Drive were xP

2 has more open stages with different paths to take more like the Mega Drive games, it's faster faced, but I still find the first game the best.

Dang, it had 3 Sonic games on it, and I can't help but wonder how I didn't see this system as a kid... o:

Did Sonic 2 have tails and super sonic?

The cool thing about the 8bit versions of Sonic 1 + 2 is that they aren't just downgraded ports of the Megadrive titles, they're actually their own full games, however... they are the exact games which were on the gamegear, so if you've played them there the only reason to check them out on the MasterSystem is to be able to A. See them properly and B. not use 1000 AA batteries to do so! :D

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Honestly the music on the system felt so bad but thanks to nostalgic reasons I enjoy listening to it.

My favourite game on the system was time soldiers.
