Well I'm new to my job and I had this cool dude show me around and training me what to do. We were talking about video games. He tells me he's a big time Playstation fan, saying he just got the PS4 Star Wars bundle. I tell him I'm a huge Nintendo fan and he asked me if I had the Wii. I said yeah I did, I currently owned a Wii U. He looked at me funny and told me "I used to play mario kart wii a few years ago" and I asked him if he knew the difference between the Wii and Wii U and he said "They're not the same thing??" and wow that shocked me... This just proves that Nintendo did a TERRIBLE job on marketing the Wii U .. Or maybe he's just into Playstation and doesnt care about other systems idk.

out of curiosity, ask him has he herd of xbox ONE and if he knows it is the new xbox.

I just want to know if people have been conditions to see increasing single digit numbers.

I imagine he has his Playstation blinkers on, and has little interest in Nintendo. I know a lot of non gamers who know what a Wii U is, even they can tell the difference between a controller that looks like a tv remote and one with a big fuck off screen on it.

Even if you say that, I'm not surprised that many people who know about the Wii U still think it's an add-on.  Has anyone ever put a Wii and a Wii U console side by side?  They look so similar that I think the average person that doesn't go to gaming forums/websites would have probably came to the conclusion that the Wii U was an add-on.   I'm actually surprised that they'll probably end up selling 15-18m of them when everything is finished because if you just looked at how Nintendo handled everything without any context -- especially in its first year -- it would be easy to think that they purposefully sent it out to die.

In any wii u advertising, you only see that gamepad, so many people probably think the wii u is just a wii peripheral. Should have just called Wii2.

Why should he? lol

I was actually surprised at work to find one co-worker pulling out a 3DS while most people on break would use their phones or read the paper/watch tv.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Yup. My friends know I like Nintendo games and they STILL ask me about my "Wii" even though I've said repeatedly that I have a "Wii U." This is how so many gamers think.

Nintendo need to stop with the silly names.

Next console = Nintendo 1
Console after that = Nintendo 2
ect ect.

cuts down on confusion, and even casuals can follow the logic.

Wii U, isn't that an add-on for the Wii?
