Forums - Gaming - A Sony Pictures game is coming to Xbox One.

Sony basically ruined Q-Bert in Adam Sandlers Pixels movie... No amount of love, money, anything can restore Q-bert's reputation.. What happens to him at the ending of Pixels is just gross, vomit inducing and downright shocking..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

What is most interesting is how q-Bert went from being a great game I want to brag about to everyone to a piece of shit game that shouldn't be on any platform mere seconds after I read this thread.

Bravo. This post is art.

That's cool, what's next sony maybe bloodborne ?

I think a more likely big budget game is MLB The Show. It doesent sell particularly well, doesent seem to move much hardware, and virtually only appeals to US gamers.

Bloodborne confirmed for Xbox One.

In all seriousness, I find this interesting.

This reminds me when there was a Microsoft published game on PS2, Age of Empires II, I believe.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Q-bert? You mean that cute orange guy who jumps on blocks? That is owned by Sony..??

I dunno if Sony and MS would like to support each other, haha... They aren't friends, and business is about making money, and not helping each other out. They probably do better through competition, which ends up being better for the consumer.

The two own a lot of patents and software so they already have a working relationship.

Minecraft being multiplat shows there are benefits of supporting a competitor. Q Bert may be Sony testing the water.

Minecraft is that sort of weird exception while it does belong to MS, it originally didn't, and since it was already on Sony consoles there wasn't really much they can do. Since you're already in that deep, may as well go all the way, haha.

Qbert kind of falls into the same grey area, since it was on many platforms before, so Qbert doesn't seem like a stranger to the idea of going to other platforms. Other than that, I don't really see that situation happening that much.

In Minecraft's case, there may also have been contractual obligations. But a lot of it also just shows how much bigger the overall companies are.

If Columbia Pictures own the IP, although that is Sony owned, it is wholly independent of SCE. Columbia Pictures will do what is in Columbia Pictures' best interests, rather than SCE's as a result of this.

I'm not sure how Mojang fits into Microsofts structure, but has it been brought under Microsoft Studios, ergo expected to put the resource into Xbox now? Or is it still operated independently of Xbox meaning there would be no obligation at all to not "support" rival products.

The Japanese love their baseball, putting it on XB1 exclusive over there would definitely be Xbox saved!

It all started with the Sega Dreamcasts Qbert.  An argument could be made for Steam's Qbert, no the IOS Qbert, no the android Qbert.... The developer of Qbert obviously maintained some legal rights with their title. Sony didn't start releasing games on the Dreamcast because Qbert was there.

Don't forget Spider Man the movie game on Xbox. Also lisenced by Columbia pictures. Notice a trend?

The thing I still find more weird was when the jeopardy and wheel if fortune games were only on Nintendo systems a few years back when Sony owns both shows

It's not wierd. Sony Pictures lisenced the game out. Sony Movie studio functions outside of Sony's Gaming studio. Sony Pictures Television was previously known as Columbia TriStar Television.

See a trend? Qbert was never a Sony game, it just was a (Columbia) property that they lisenced. The two might as well be different companies when it comes to lisencing.

What is Q bert lol
