The 30 million unit number was more to prove that even worst case scenario, Splatoon would dominate.

Are you insane? No, most 3DS owners did NOT own the Wii U. Such a huge failure of math. Also, I'm positive that a strong majority of 3DS owners don't own a Wii U OR another 3DS.

Lol is that what you people do when someone has a legitimate logical argument against your fantasies.... you call them 'insane'

 

Alot of people I know who had 3DS's bought 2,3,4 or even more of them. Every time Nintendo had a new 'special edition' 3DS that they just had to have they would either buy it themselves or get a parent to. (Kind of like Xbox rrod...massive numbers inflation.) Nintendo even released multiple hardware 'revisions' that they went out and got. Many of them also had Wii U systems. Has it not  ever puzzled anyone why the Wii U has absolutely struggled to sell 12 million units...its because that's the number of diehard Nintendo fans left out there. So basically all diehard Nintendo fans bought the Wii U and 2+ 3DS's. That is why soundwave is doing math wrong.

Really unlikely...

The kind of Nintendo fan that will buy Splatoon is the kind that bought the Wii U. Of course, having a larger install base will help, but not to that degree.

Then again, I thought Splatoon would sell a million or less, so what do I know.

But how can the NX be more powerful than the PS4 and not be ungodly expensive. Either than or its just a moderately more powerful Wii u. Anyway it won't attract many third party developers or hardcore gamers. 

So say that all ~12 million diehard Nintendo fans buy the NX...then what do tens of millions of people who haven't bought any Nintendo products in years go out buy the NX for no reason?

You knowing a lot of people who own multiple 3DSs does not make your point correct. Hardcore Nintendo fans may make up a lot of the Wii U sales, but you can't use the same logic with the 3DS. I'm sure that a lot of hardcore Nintendo buy multiple 3DSs, but hardcore Nintendo fans don't make up most of the 3DS userbase. Thus, most of the userbase bought one 3DS, and also thus your point about most 3DS owners owning a Wii U is done.

Well, I did point out the possibility of 30m+ for NX sales in the OP, so..

Oh, somehow missed that :p

But I would doubt it with those numbers..

Percentages can't always be extrapolated so even if the attach rate for this game is really high on the Wii U, doesn't necessarily mean it will be similar on a console that sells more.. (though sales should definitely be higher than the Wii U version!)

Based on your numbers NX would have to sell 30+ million before the Splatoon sequel even launches ...not going to happen.
Nintendo is even cannibalizing their handheld market to stay relevant.

So you saying NX will be lucky if it sell more that Wii U alone!? You realise that NX will be probably include NX home console and NX handheld!?

Also what about third party support and no core gamer support!? You already know what support NX will have!?

Why people are obsessed with achievements? Just curious, for me enjoying a game is all I care.

They are a psychological lure. It's more pleasant than it sounds.
