Honestly, I'd love if Sony ported the Ratchet and Clank Future series.

Oh no I don't mean remasters. I mean porting new games to last gen.
The PS Vita's limited support, it has so much potential, it fixed most of the issues that the PSP had and it's awesome for PS Classics and indies but it just didn't get the love it deserves.
Batman Arkham Knight (too much batmobile
) and the wii u lack of third party support and virtual console games.

Mandatory installs of games! People complain about wii u small 32gb but without install its better than ps4/xbox1 500gb/1 terabyte. I welcome the new rumor of cartridges for NX , and pray it happens. If I finish this gen with the same games like last gen I'll need two 5 terabyte hard drives for the current gen hardware apiece.
weak hardware. Last gen was cutting edge when they debute. This gen was middling at best.

No Metroids...
No Turn based FF AAA games even after FF7R was announced and giving Nomura full reign over it...I'll give FFXV a try because honestly there's just so little that appeal to my RPG tastes now. There's a lack of simplicity and serenity in the larger budgeted RPG games. The better ones are all about getting as in depth with real human conflictions as possible, which is nice, but then they either lore the shit out of the narrative or just plain pussy out on it to where I just don't care about the events that unfold and nothing mesmerizing is done with the events of that story's created universe.
I'll even take a campy RPG story over that because grit really isn't grit until you show the contrast between the lighter and darker side of life. You can't only show the darker or more mature realistic situations. You have to balance it out with light hearted moments and charm, so that when the more mature moments happen you have variety AND a better connection to the characters.
I used to like Bethesda's approach, but the novelty wore off for exploring lots of huge dungeons. An omnipresent story is really needed to make those things feel important in an RPG. I think that's the other problem I have with most well reviewed RPGs these days. They dont' really have an omnipresent story. They have all these disconnected or at the very least disjointed take-it-or-leave-it sidequests that don't really matter to the main story; usually because the main story isn't all that interesting or remotely intimidating in scope.
But of course the creators will skimp out on that by putting all the interesting stuff in lore FFS.
Lube Me Up
Short answer, Paper Mario: Sticker Star. I enjoyed the game well enough, but it pales in comparison to the older games.
I've also been less impressed with generation overall. Aside from the 3DS, I still haven't picked up any of the current generation of consoles, been happy to play through games from older systems and Steam that I hadn't given the time before. It's funny, I'm gaming more recently than I have in the last few years, and it's almost all on older hardware. I suppose it's cheaper as a result, but I'd love to see more software for the current consoles that piqued my interest.
Eh, maybe I've become cynical.
Hmm
