Now, lets throw in some hardware estimates and historical numbers for comparison:

-Almost no system EVER dipped below the 100k in its Glorydays (which essentialy means, the days that the console is supported with a decent amount of games) Only exeption last gen: Gamecube.

-PS2 NEVER dipped below 100k. And only twice below 200k (But that number won't last for long... I guess)

-No Exclusive BIG system sellers coming out this year (Now to get something straight: Lair and Heavenly sword aren't going to sell as big as Halo, Pokémon, Mario, Metroid, SSB: Brawl... Then your just kidding yourself!... All of those PS3 games are new and can be compared qua reviewscore and graphics/gameplay with Motorstorm and resistance. Which we all know didn't sell nearle as good as games like Zelda TP or Gears of war! As such... Userbase will still be small when 08 begins and dev interest shifts... (You all know that story) So there is no big reason why PS3 would increase THAT MUCH in sales (ofcourse... Holidays will see rising sales for every system) But not NEARLY big enough to equal OR EVEN COME CLOSE to Wii or even X360...

 

And that's how the story goes... 07 PS3 is focked! For sure!

to answer the origninal meaning of this thread... no games equals slow sales.. i dont care how you look at it....(yay!! im gonna get a ps3... wait a minute.. what games am i gonna get for it???)..

Not anymore it's not. After the terrible showing in NA and Japan in April, there's virtually no way the PS3 is still outselling the 360. It was barely outselling it when it was moving 20k units in Japan and 130k in NA. Now that it's at a little more than half that number in those regions, the 360 should be outselling it handily now.


For the ps3 to be out selling the xbox360 worldwide, (which it has done so overall in 2007 so far) in europe and other regions the ps3 only needs to out sell the 360 by 50,000~

I haven't read through this thread but..have you considered what 82,000 PS3s sold means nationwide? There have to be at least 10,000 stores that sell videogames in the USA. That means on average, there were 8 PS3s (or less) on average being sold per store for the month. Say it was 7 PS3s sold per store in a 4 week month - that means a PS3 was sold once every 4 days per store in April. That is scary, scary stuff for Sony.

Im saying that the ps3 outsold the 360 by 55 thousand in japan alone in april so im pretty sure it outsold it especially in europe and australia.... do you ever look at the sales charts for other countries?? 360 is not the console to beat over there right now.. its between the wii and the wiii haha... with ps3 and 360 battling for 2nd.. but right now ps3 is winning the 2nd place battle


I have no doubt that in Europe, PS3 is outselling the 360. But we're not sure by how much. The 55 thousand difference in Japan was easily beaten out by the 92 thousand difference the 360 outsold the PS3 in NA for April. So now:

NA+Japan for the 360  > than NA+Japan for PS3.

Right now, worldwide, there is a battle for first place between the 360 and the Wii. The Wii is catching the 360 very quickly. The PS3 is lagging behind.

dude please stop.... so 92 thous minus 55 thous is 37 thousand.... ps3 outsold 360 in germany by 8 thousand if i remember correctly... so thats 29 thousand.. do you really want me to to individually go through each and every european country just to prove to you that its outselling the 360 worldwide??? are you saying that the ps3 cant make up a 29 thousand diffence of sales in europe?!?! oh no you wouldnt be saying that now would you??!! Please do go through every country. I'd like to know the difference. Cause if the difference is a paltry 50k-100k worldwide, it'll be YEARS before the PS3 EVER catches the 360. The 360 has a 6 million lead over the PS3. Or should we not count that :)

Actually, there are considerably more retail outlets that sell video games. Wal-mart alone has close to 4000 stores. Gamestop operates around the same number of stores. Add on top of that all the Best Buy, Circuit City, Target, Costco, K-Mart, etc. and you'd realize that the number of stores that sell video games is much greater than 10k.
