Ill start by poycotting DLC 49 30.43%

Ill Buy Games with Campaigns 81 50.31%

Ill quit gaming 31 19.25%

This gen sucks. Delays, dlc, incomplete games, bugs, patches, infinite updates, a mess in hardware, unamitious projects, etc. Very few positive things to save from these years.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

So many of these issues feel like 2006-2008 when these trends started and bothered me. If anything recently on my PS4 and PSV feel like getting true successors to gaming I enjoyed on PS2 era, specifically with Japan having a bit of a renaissance.

Western develoers killed the industry when they brought their shitty PC standards to consoles. Slow poison ever since.

I'm disappointed by the lack of variety this gen. Take the 360 and xbox one (I own neither btw) for example. Look at the former's library 2 years in and look at the latter's 2 years in. The difference is shocking

I agree PS2 era was when gaming peaked, I remember playing amazing games every week. Kingdom Hearts, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Shadow of the Colossus, Need for Speed, Battlefront and Guitar Hero. In addition, the GBA was going strong, therefore, there were many stellar games.

This generation is the worst, I don't own any of the consoles nor planning on getting them. The Wii U is a straight rehash of the Wii, with the same games and better graphics. I don't care about the Xbone and I can't tell any PS4 game that didn't start with Metal Gear...whatever.

I disagree. This gen is starting slow I'll admit for PS4 & XB1 but it should get better starting this year.

The Wii U has been a bit of a downgrade compared to what I got on past Nintendo systems but has still been decent to say the least. 3DS has been pretty good for handheld standards. (considering I don't care for HH's as much)

As for the DLC, broken games, season passes, ect: Maybe I'm just weird but I don't mind it. If a game is broken, It'll get patched anyway and if it doesn't, don't buy it. Plenty of other games. Plus, honestly, I find some of the glitches to be entertaining

I support DLC too. Obviously, if it's not worth it and nothing but a cash grab, I won't get it but normally I like the content given.

Another reason why this generation is arguably better than a lot of people are making it out to be.

Focus on the crappy parts and it will seem bad. Ignore the bad practices by not purchasing those games - and furthermore focusing on all the great stuff we have already received and which is coming out - and I think all people here will change their opinion.

For instance, some of the good things this generation has brought upon us:

-Already noted this, but the dev practices of Psyonix and The Witcher 3 (transparency, free DLC, great relationship with consumers).

-Square Enix has very much so improved their relationship with their fans. They release video updates of their projects, they release demos and they take fan feedback seriously.

-The Last Guardian, Horizon, Uncharted 4, Gears 4, Zelda, FF7 Remake, Persona 5 etc. All these games that we hold so much hype for have still yet to release. Also some unannounced projects.

-Yea we've had many notable delays but that is infinitely preferable to the alternative.

That's just a scratch of some of the positives we have seen or are yet to come. Think of it this way, if you go walking in a field full of turds, it will smell like crap and damn right you're gonna step in some. Ignore the turds and support the flowers.

I edited OP! oh and BTW Cliffy B wanted to take our digital rights away from us. He changed his position several times. He just follows the money. Don't trust any Devs out there!

Speaking of which, lying creators are also becoming a thing now. Just think about what happened with Payday.

While we're at it, PR spinning to the point it gets absolutely ridiculous. Especially from Microsoft after NPD numbers, but they're by far not the only ones

When I consider inflation and how much games used to cost in gens 1-4 I feel a little better... It's rather remarkable that most games are still sitting at $60.

As for DLC, I like it more than I dont... It just depends on the game. I'm quite sick of games like battlefield asking me to basically buy the game three times over to have all the maps, especially as they're largely required for the online play in most servers. It also bugs me that there's less campaigns, though I got the impression that it was entirely a deadline issue for Battlefront as they tried to release before the movie regardless of their claims to the contrary.

DLC help keep a game fresh for years (look at CK2, constantly reinventing itself four years later) and also protect game developers from the hiring and firing cycle, giving them minor projects in between the major ones. Overall, then, I enjoy dlc, as I am (one example) currently looking forward to the new vehicles expansion for dying light that would not have happened otherwise.

The broken games, though, are quite frustrating, especially when the "fix" winds up being a ~20gb+ patch that wastes further hard drive space. Ubisoft has been the biggest offender lately and I imagine that had everything to do with their absurd deadlines (they've finally scaled back their release schedule of AC games to one every two years). Fallout 4 still has plenty of bugs that they've yet to fix, but I still love that game. I fear as games become increasingly complex we'll continue to see more buggy games as opposed to less.

The graphics came as no surprise to me as, really, these consoles are all rather weak to maintain an affordable price... Those people who were suggesting they might be comparable to a custom built gaming rig were either ignorant or lying through their teeth.

Overall, this gen is alright. It has plenty of flaws but none that didn't also exist in the last gen, and there's a good many fun games to play. If the DLC or costs seem to ridiculous, just don't get it... Sometimes people take note, such as the negative press of unity being broken and less than expected sales of syndicate prompting ubisoft to change their development schedule, or the fact that I'm now playing elder scrolls online for $30 when once you needed about $100 and a monthly subscription to get the whole experience.

Regarding Graphics, Gen 9 better have a standard 1080p at 60FPS with no loading screens for open world games or I am calling it a failure.
