So many of these issues feel like 2006-2008 when these trends started and bothered me. If anything recently on my PS4 and PSV feel like getting true successors to gaming I enjoyed on PS2 era, specifically with Japan having a bit of a renaissance.

Another reason why this generation is arguably better than a lot of people are making it out to be.

Focus on the crappy parts and it will seem bad. Ignore the bad practices by not purchasing those games - and furthermore focusing on all the great stuff we have already received and which is coming out - and I think all people here will change their opinion.

For instance, some of the good things this generation has brought upon us:

-Already noted this, but the dev practices of Psyonix and The Witcher 3 (transparency, free DLC, great relationship with consumers).

-Square Enix has very much so improved their relationship with their fans. They release video updates of their projects, they release demos and they take fan feedback seriously.

-The Last Guardian, Horizon, Uncharted 4, Gears 4, Zelda, FF7 Remake, Persona 5 etc. All these games that we hold so much hype for have still yet to release. Also some unannounced projects.

-Yea we've had many notable delays but that is infinitely preferable to the alternative.

That's just a scratch of some of the positives we have seen or are yet to come. Think of it this way, if you go walking in a field full of turds, it will smell like crap and damn right you're gonna step in some. Ignore the turds and support the flowers.
