Eh, the bubble system on N4G is way more flawed as it actually prevents you from taking part in discussion.

This is a minor annoyance, You can still leave comments and reply to everyone. Now if dislikes or thumbing down had negative effects on your account, like limiting the amount of posts you can leave, that's a problem.

you got one dislike from me now^^ and for this thread, I have some people I always downvote.

I never expected any less from you sprash. Keep up the good work.

Really? are my comments that bad or did we had a beef I can't remember?

And he's able to, with the thumbs down. I also think it's not a true claim. So another thumbs down for ya.

There's no basis for a playstation console to be front loaded.

Did you also upvote the guy that replied to me, saying that it will look like a nose-dive?

Whether you did or not doesn't matter. What matters is that there is an abuse in the voting system one way or the other which I proved by the snapshot.

Do you agree or not?

I did not upvote the guy who responded to you. (also, didn't you downvote yourself??)

I think voting systems can be abused (and have been on this site), but I do not think this is one of those cases.

I did downvote myself, out of annoyance, as explained. Still the count was 2 up, 2 down.

In this case, the person thumbed up said pretty much the exact same thing as I did, with a bit more description. I think it's one of those cases because what I said was not likely to be wrong.

Do you not think it is front-loaded? These are record sales, and we know what the potential for the market is, we saw it last gen.

Whether you think that bottom-line it will be true or not, it is a valid expectation that the sales be front-loaded. The same market, the same potential, but the initial sales are much higher, what does that tell you?

Who said its the same market? What's the percentage of PS4/X1 owners that had a PS3/X360 last generation? You need to know this number to make this claim.

The system is a failure. The way people down-vote posts for simply presenting an opinion they do not share is pathetic and counter productive to actual discussion. The general population of internet users cannot handle self-moderation. As it stands, unless you post something you know is going to mirror popular opinion, you might as well not post at all.

But that isn't always the point of up/down vote system. It's to get the best posts to the top. While, it will have its drawbacks as a popular opinion can float to the top, a well done post will always get love and attention.

And it fails at that on a consistent basis.  Take the article where Rocket League was given the VGC award for biggest sales surprise of the year.  People agreeing were down-voted to "comment hidden".  That's just bloody fucking stupid.  It's nothing but a popularity contest where the faction with the most members wins.

Of course nobody has that number. Most of us on here are taking what you would call educated guesses. What would explain an expansion in the market? I see no valid reason for that to be true.

So your educated guess is based on what exactly? You have zero numbers as to whether or not the market is expanding, contracting or stragnating, so your logic says its stagnating.

Okay.

Well your educated guess is "I don't know so I'm going to assume its the same as last generation". That doesn't sound too educated to me.

I think you may be using a very different definition of front loaded. When used in this context, you're stating that you expect sales to plummet and have no legs, not just slow drop. Also, comparing potential markets is a little off as you can't guarantee that the market isn't any bigger or that the sales potential has peaked.

While the industry will be down generation over generation, that has everything to do with Wii U, not PS4.

Support that statement with logic

If I do, will you explain why my post was dumb?

It shouldn't even be necessary. 2 years in and in 3 months the gap grew by a massive 6M as the graph itself shows.

This has been a common "argument", particularly from one camp, and it should die at some point. When does it stop qualifying for a front loaded period? When the consoles get their next successor? That's long past the qualifying limit. You can't keep extending it until it suits your theory. Both the " front loaded gen" and "everyone who wanted one already bought one" (mostly said for ps4 but sometimes X1 as well) theories are dead.

What you did was make a statement which had 0 support from the content of the article and didn't even bother explaining why.

Then you replied saying the people who down voted you know you are right. Well let me tell you, you didn't explain why because you know you are wrong and you down voted yourself because you know you are wrong and you're making it an issue with the system rather than your "argument" because you know you are wrong.

Only comment downvoted that far is an insult to the staff for picking Rocket League. In fact, the only comments with negative votes are ones critical of the choice.

I mean, outside of the puke comment at the top, I think most of the highly voted posts are pretty sensible and people are just agreeing with it. Easy to understand as Bloodborne was the Community choice for GOTY.

Maybe it was worse when you checked it? I think it's an example of response to a controverisal choice, but not that the system is broken.
