Which platform could you see Nintendo working on if worst came to worst? | |||

Not while they are still producing hardware. And if they stop producing hardware I imagine they will want to be on as many platforms as possible. Once you're 3rd party there's no point in being platform exclusive unless someone keeps handing you hats full of money, and who's going to money hat for PC exclusivity? Not MS that's for sure.

They could build their own Steam machine and work with that. Most Japanese companies are realizing now that PC is the way to go. It's a matter of time until everyone is on Steam.
Exclusively on PC? No. Their audience is mainly a console audience, so without some sort of large shift, they'd need to publish on consoles if they wanted to continue doing so. They may also publish on PC though.

I don't consider them japanese. They're more like european to me. And calling NX dead is silly.
Exclusive no, but I could see it publish on Android, iOS and SteamBox first, as timed semi-exclusives, then on Windows and last, if still economically interesting, on PS and XBox, just to give away nothing to former competitors if it were kicked out of console market. If it blamed smartphone and tablet for portables decline, Android and iOS versions could be delayed too, making SteamBox the sole timed exclusive, but it's unlikely, Ninty games would need at least one home and one portable platform for early release to maximise profits. Gabe would be really glad and he'd treat such an important publisher and dev princely.
If worst comes to worst, I could see that happening. I feel more and more games are moving to PC as a viable place to sell their games. I don't think it would be strictly PC, but it could be one platform they'd move their games to.

I would love that. Don't get me wrong, I love my nintendo systems and games, but if every company published their games on pc, gaming would be much better. Imagine playing X at max setting, 60 fps, and 1440p. I would be sooo happy.
