Tell me you're not being serious. They will use the engine but not the assets (at least they won't use most of them) and make another Zelda in 3 years.

Why not? Of course they won't recycle the entire game, but they can make another game similar in style and looks to ZeldaU reusing part of the assets made. Majora's Mask was almost exact in engine and assets to Ocarina of Time, they just added enough new content and mechanics to create a new game. Why couldn't they make something similar?

Why not? To make the game unique. MM was the only case ever they reused assets and that was a second zelda in a rush to release.

It's reassuring to read some posts here, but I really don't buy the whole "they can reuse the assets" thing. Except for Majora's, which is a totally different situation, they always use new engines/assets for the game. If NX is about as powerful as an XB1 as some rumors say, I think reusing this engine would hold the game's potential, so they wouldn't do it.

Actually, they always use that same engine but new assets. OOT, MM, WW, TP and SS all had the same basic engine. Seems like Zelda U is the first 3d zelda to use a different engine, wich I guess will be reused for future Zeldas.

The more technology advances, the more time and resources it will take to make a videogame. And with Nintendo's history of delays, they need to find someway to speed up their software production. There's nothing wrong with Majora's Mask looking similar to OoT, and the same could be said for Zelda NX looking similar to Zelda U. They'll have time to work and polish those ideas used on Zelda U and make them better. And as long as it's a good game, it that really bad?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Just think of Zelda U as Zelda Nx that's meant for the Nx but has a dumbed down version for the Wii u and use that mindset from here on out and the problem goes away.

Zelda U will be 720p/30fps, for next Zelda they can reuse same engine (that looks beautiful) and assets and made new 1080p game with more complex graphics, AA and some new effects. You can be sure that Nintendo will not make onother 720p/30fps Zelda with NX hardware.

I think Zelda Wii U will be 1080p30fps.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Not after a certain point. After such a huge game like Zelda U, development won't get longer. It will probably be more and more optimized.

Are you serious on this one? Does SS uses the same engine of Ocarina of Time? I've never heard of this before.

WW, TP and SS use a modified version of the oot and mm engine. Still the same base.

Zelda U - Multiplat with Wii U and NX in 2016

Zelda X - Multiplat with NX and NX2 in 2021

Hmmm, I think there's a chance it could happen. Though if it ended up being cross gen again, I wouldn't mind. I'm just glad to have another fresh new mainline Zelda coming xD
