Forums - Gaming - Sales Surprise of 2016?

A VR game that uses basic features of VR in a simple and effective way could be what Wii Sports or Kinect Adventures was for motion controls and could see similar success.

That's actually a very good choice. This kind of game could even decide the fate of a VR machine, especially PSVR which is the most dependant on games.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

As we all know 2015 had some big sales surprises like Splatoon and Rocket League. I don't remember seeing a year with so many unexpected hits in a long, long time.

So what game do you think will surprise us in 2016 guys? This year is clearly a great one for releases, so a hit may come from where you never expected!

Personally, I'm betting on Twilight Princess HD as a bigger success than most anticipate. I'm also willing to believe that Gears 4 will actually do better than Halo 5 (crazy, I know!).

I have been thinking about this the past week so your not alone with it, The core Xbox fans generally love love Halo but outside that others don't generally care for it (or at least pretend they don't) but from opinions of friends and seeing posts and poeple speaking about Gears/Halo on forums that they are more likely to buy a X1 for Gears of War 4 than Halo 5. So since the core Xbox fans will already end up buying the next Gears of War 4 + other console owners gettign there second or third console for/around Gears of War 4 release could mean a lot more sales.

I'm talking Halo 5 2015 vs Gears of War 4 2016 sales, Lifetime I still think Halo 5 will win.

Quantum Break outsells Halo 3 at retail so I can have the laugh of the decade...

Final Fantasy XV proceeds to beat the ever living tar out of everything throughout the year. Noctis becomes the new face of gaming in 2016...

I'm curious to see how Pokken does. I think it could do reasonably well if it is a good game. Might have its sales gimped by the NX.

Yes, that's what I'm betting too. Let's wait and see, I think we'll be surprised.

I was actually about to do a thread about this! But I got tired and went to bed... lol.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

I think Horizon Zero Dawn is going to enormous for Sony, it seems like the kind of setting that will have a lot of appeal. It will likely have a similar level of depth and scale to The Witcher 3, which has been very popular this year, only HZD has a more accessible setting, being that it's sci-fi, robotic animals and post apocalyptic in nature, with a lot of crafting.

I think Ratchet & Clank will also do really well, with the film coming. Kids and adults who are young at heart will eat that up IMO.
