Forums - Gaming - Sales Surprise of 2016?

As we all know 2015 had some big sales surprises like Splatoon and Rocket League. I don't remember seeing a year with so many unexpected hits in a long, long time.

So what game do you think will surprise us in 2016 guys? This year is clearly a great one for releases, so a hit may come from where you never expected!

Personally, I'm betting on Twilight Princess HD as a bigger success than most anticipate. I'm also willing to believe that Gears 4 will actually do better than Halo 5 (crazy, I know!).

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Probably the sales surprises of the year hasn't even been announced yet.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

A currently unannounced multiplat like Mordor back in 2014

I hope that Star Fox Zero does really well. Nintendo just needs to advertise.

bet: lost

For it to be a real surprise then it probably has to be a game we don't know about. But from what's already revealed...I have a feeling that Battleborn could do well. Yooka-Laylee, too, could smash it.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Interesting choice. Even if people expect it to be a success, it would still be a surprise if it did after the Wii U fiasco.

A VR game that uses basic features of VR in a simple and effective way could be what Wii Sports or Kinect Adventures was for motion controls and could see similar success.

Uncharted 4

Star Fox Zero.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
