Forums - Sales - Zelda Wii U destined to flop hard?

How will Zelda U fair sales wise?

Buck the trend and be a hit? 105 75.00%

Follow the pattern and be... 35 25.00%

What?
No.
It's freaking Zelda. And a 3D console one too, which are the entries that sell the most.
It's one of the most hyped games of the year and even the entire generation. It's THE Wii U game that fans who are still looking to buy the system or have bought the system are waiting for.
It's going to succeed. Bottom line.

Its the bigger Zelda game ever and looks amazing.

Of course it will sell. 2m minimum.

I'd raise that number If I were you.

I said minimum. It will likely sell alot more.

Yes this game needs to sell more than 7 million units for a profit. No way it can make that on Wii U alone especially when a NX version will be announced and yes it will. So the game will probably bomb but only on Wii U.

It's guaranteed 5m + on Wii U. Since the wii u successor is most likely backwards compatible, It can potentially be the best selling Zelda ever.

Well with the odd controller the latter is not necesarily true especially if Nintendo wants to abandon powerpc. In any case on the NX it will sell good on Wii U it could be a flop due to it's late release  (after the announcement of the Wii U it's succesor). But perhaps it could pull a TLOU on Wii U. Although I doubt that since the Wii U isn't in any case the PS3 except the awful launch.

More than 7m for profit!? You really think Nintendo will spend $250-300m for Zelda U!? That's just crazy, for instance Witcher 3 development cost were $80m (including promotion push), I relly cant see Nintendo spending more than that for Zelda U.

I think Nintendo will make profit with around 2m sold copies. Rember, this is $60 game and probably will not be part of any console bundle.

No, don't think so. I think games like Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon have proved that games can sell on Wii U, and Zelda U will probably be no different.

Its certainly hyped, it looks gorgeous and is one of the few Wii U games people are looking for. Despite the negative correlation for Zelda games, Zelda U is in the position where it'll probably go against that.

I believe that Nintendo has a more dedicated userbase now than they did with the Wii from the "hardcore" which are the people that buy Zelda. Just look at some of their 1st party games attach rates. Because of this, I think there is a good chance that Zelda U (depending on if it releases on NX or not) could be the strongest selling Zelda game ever when it's all said and done, especially if they are seriously adding features/concepts to it since they delayed it and ESPECIALLY if there is a female playable character (there have been girls/women wanting that for ages that will be super pumped if that happens).

I highly doubt it will flop. I know people who are waiting to buy the console solely for that title.

That's not the minimum, it will 100% sell way more than that.
