I think on of the first games that will be HD remaster on NX will be Mario Galaxy.

I dunno if it's so much to bolster the library per se as it is that there's plenty of good games on the Wii U that were criminally overlooked because the system didn't sell well. Pikmin 3, Bayonetta 2, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Xenoblade X, etc. etc. that I think Nintendo would want to double dip on with the NX. Like 75-80% of Nintendo hardware owners this gen were 3DS-only (no Wii U) ... that's a lot of people that didn't get a chance to play these games. |
Or those people can just buy the games. The only time nintento ported a significant amount of previous gen titles was with the new play control wii titles.

I thought the Wii U already proved that 3rd party ports don't sell on it. Why should Nintendo buy a studio to get more 3rd party ports? Personally I liked the 3rd party games (ports & exclusive) from Ubisoft in the early days of the Wii U. But I totally understand that they didn't ported anymore games, because obviously I was the only person, who bought them. |
Both wii u, ps4 and x1 proved that half assed atempts of ports don't sell anywhere.

Are we really totally ignoring the obvious example here? TP HD is and improved port of a game that I could just play on my wiiU natively.
That's exactly why people are expecting Nintendo to bolster up their lineup with a few remasters, because they are already doing it, and as you yourself pointed out have done it before too.
Anyways, I'm sure we will get plenty of exciting new games as well, so what's the problem with a few remasters?

wow, ONE WHOLE REMASTER, releasing more than 3 years later. Note my post, Nintendo only released a SIGNIFICANT amount of previous gen titles with the new play control series on wii. One game from 10 years ago is not a significant amount.

This gen has had a lot of remasters-remakes. On the WiiU we have WindWaker and Twilight Princess. On the 3DS, we have Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, StarFox 3DS, Pokemon ORAS, Xenoblade N3DS...

Only TP HD and XC are from the previous gen. Noticed?

Remastered Mario 64... yes please.
I would like to see that game done by nintendo, with graphics that look like they belong on a PS4, for the NX.
I think Nintendo is trying to do things the most safe they can, if TPHD sells well I could see them asking Tanalus to make a major port/remake in the style of Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time come to mind...
