Forums - Sony - The Order 1886 is a visual masterpiece and a better game than Until Dawn.

We won't see games this pretty again until 9th gen...

Yes. Agree. 88 26.27%

No. Disagree. 111 33.13%

Only on small in scope or... 35 10.45%

UC4 will look just as good. 42 12.54%

UC4 will look better. 59 17.61%

Total:335

LOL sorry but no thanks. If The Order is the standard for anything in gaming, then I don't wanna game in this world any more.

It looks good because there were massive sacrifices made to the game to make it so. I find something like Witcher 3 infinitely more impressive, visually and technically. I mean you say yourself it's a tech demo. There's so little going on with the game while playing it, by design. Even the action that does occur is extremely linear and controlled, either via QTE or brain dead AI enemies who each have one script.

Crysis sucked. Well it was, mediocre anyway. It only got attention because of those graphics.

Bullshit. The game got a 91 on metacritic for a reason.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

The Order 1886 is still the best game on any platform this generation. The negativity that surrounded this game in the media was outlandish.

The fact that people praised The Last Of Us, and then called this game garbage shows just how biased the gaming community is. This game sits somewhere right between Uncharted and TLOU in gameplay and pacing, yet somehow it is a mess, to short, and has weak gameplay?

I highly suggest that anyone with a PS4 and and an interest in this setting go and grab this game when they have 10 - 15 hours to enjoy a great experience. The game is easy to find for $10 - 20 now, and it is well worth every penny.

As the OP says, you will experience one of the most well polished, technically sound, and best looking games ever made. It is the benchmark for this gen so far as far as stability, graphics, and craftsmanship are concerned.

On any platform, including PC? Star Citizen, Eve Valkyrie and Kingdom Come Deliverance would like a word.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

One of the reasons I felt its harshest scores were ridiculous. I get not enjoying the game, finding it too short, or just disliking the story (which leaves scores in the 6-7 range as appropriate). However, once reviews drop below a 5, I expect something to be broken. The Order is one of the more polished games of the gen, yet, you would think it was an absolute mess.

i agree. its a pretty well polished game. personally would rate the game a 7. its graphics, characters, music, story, athmoshpere and gun play are very very well made. its set pieces are not that great. and its stealth sections plus the low level lycan fights are shit. but the boss fights are incredible (not sure why people didnt like them). it has a problem with continuity and its transitions between scenes/levels. it just didnt feel all that... smooth.

its a shame we wont get a sequal. the story had a great cliff hanger, and it was getting really intense by the end of it. they had a great base of a fantastic sequal, one that i honestly find my self wanting to play.

Gameplay over graphics. There are ways to make a game look great while also playing great. And even without gameplay, the game could have used a stronger story.

I feel, for the first time ever, that prettier games have met their limit as far as appeal goes. No longer can a game get by with being visually stunning and it's probably for the best because costs are just out of hand and the entire AAA industry has reached a point where everything is all the same.

I really enjoyed the order. I am actually gutted we won't be getting any more games in its universe.

Definitely see it remaining one of the most technically accomplished games of the generation. I think the biggest problem really was length (for $60), considering once you got to the end, that was pretty much it.

I actually enjoyed it's old school feel and mechanics.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Graphics are just a plus, but they can't be what a game is all about. If a great game comes with great graphics, that's awesome! But if a bad game comes with the best graphics of all time, I will still ignore it. Then there are great games with bad graphics - In such cases I don't care about graphics at all. I'm playing San Andreas right now! It looks like shit, but it's fun as hell!

So yeah, Gameplay over graphics. The Order sucks pretty hard, same as Ryse, Crysis 2 and 3 (I actually enjoyed the first one) and so many more games.

I think there will be one. Sales are good, and RAD doesn't have to build their engine from zero now (that already took more than half of their time for TO:1886).

I see many comments on this game and I remember lair from last gen. I loved that game and still remember it fondly today. Yet in it's time it was horribly trashed. Granted, that game's followers were praising the gameplay and The Order doesn't seam to have that advantage, but I still wander if I will be pleasantly surprised when I finally get to play it.
