Forums - Gaming - How can Microsoft make Minecraft 2 Successful?

That's why there probably won't be a Minecraft 2. Anything they could accomplish in a sequel could be accomplished via simple updates over time.

I mean, what are they going to do? Add more blocks?

Can it really be that different, or different enough to warrant a few million copies?

What about the 100 plus million purchases on other systems? Will they lose those sales in a hope that gamers will flock to the X1 for a game that is just an upgrade that has already been stuffed with dlc?

End of an era.

Ultra high quality realistic avatar creation and allowing circular blocks. End result? You can develop a game on your own...

Minecraft 2 will never happen, it'd be absolutely pointless.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Call it "Minecraft 2"

Let it go... really let it go.

There is Always a way if creators are creative enough :). The game could go the route of enabling game Creation or have a more fleshed out story mode. There are always ways if the will is there. Or they might decide to make more spin-offs. Either way they are not done with milking that cow.

There's a reason why there's no Minecraft 2 made by Notch. It is iconic and can never be replicated.without those building blocks.

Ha, I see what you did there.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

The purchase of Mojang was probably a leftover vestige of the Ballmer/Mattrick era. Who else would pay $2.5 Billion for what is essentially a one trick pony. All that for one IP.

There will never be a new Minecraft or any other game from Mojang. Mojang is a small company, they had to outsource the console ports. Before the takeover they had ~50 employees total. And the takeover wasn't entirley smooth or wanted by employees. Microsoft had to offer employees $300,000 and 2 years salary to get employees to stay and some employees still turned MS down and left. There is really bad blood from the takeover and Mojang is now, like Rare, with not enough talent to make games in any substantial capacity. The remaining crew will probably just be dedicated to making updates for Minecraft.

would be pointless to make unless you drastically altered the game from the orginal.
