Forums - Gaming - Have you ever gotten tired of a genre of gaming you used to love?

As the thread topic asks, has that ever happened to you?

What genre was it?

Do you remember the game that was the culprit?

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Hmmmmmm nope, never.Got to like more type of genres actually.

The worst to happen is get a little tired of the genre, because of playing too much game of its type, but other than that nothing.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Nope. Actually yes. Fighting games. Used to love smash and mortal combat, but they just seem ehh these days/

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Yes, FPS. For some reason, I can play 30 years od platformers and never tire yet 10 years of FPS is... too much.

Hmm, I would say no. All the genres I loved, I still do, and the ones I didn't, I still don't... Well, except a few shooters, like L4D2 and Splatoon xD

yup last gen first person shooters were my favorite genre and i really got bored them around the last year or two the generation and i'm starting to get tired of big open world games that have very repetitive side stuff despite open worlds being currently in my top 3 favorite genre's.

Hmm... no. But i am also very tired of repetitive open worlds. Thats not a genre though.

Not really...

Still am a fan of JRPGs and RTS games (though I don't play the latter as much anymore :/ )

Nah, though if anything, I feel like I'm becoming more sick of 2D platformers as time goes by. It's probably because I force myself to 100% a lot of them, which can take a lot out of a person. DKC: Tropical Freeze is a difficult game, with long levels, lots of trial and error gameplay, and at least 10 different collectibles in each level. There was a point in time where I was completing only 1 level a day. It was draining for me.
