Forums - Sony - PlayStation VR briefly listed on Amazon Canada for $799 USD..

Wait, did Amazon Canada showed the product's price in US dollars instead of canadian dollars?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I personally won't be buying PSVR but if I was ever in the market for one It'd have to be 300 or less.

It's most likely a placeholder, and they just put up a price. Good thing they removed it though :).

I expect PSVR to be priced between $399US and $499US... in CAD this would sell around 549$ to 699$ imo. Consoles are still 450 - 500$ here.

Has nothing to do with the actual price. This happens with every single product. PS4 was $1000 or $800 on many sites before we knew actual price.

I do think Sony will probably have ONE big leg up compared to other VR.. If GameStop (and other worldwide game stores) have Demo units in them.. THAT WILL SELL PS VR.. Using VR is what sells it.. NO commercial or review, or article can do it justice.. If the price is RIGHT.. $349-$449 range.. and THIS happens.. I do now think Sony could take #1 for VR in 2016..

That's pretty much the crux of it.  Everyone who's actually used it, has had pretty glowing reviews of it.  And most of them acknowledge that showcasing that in front of a live audience is simply impossible.  You have to experience to understand it, and they're banking on the press and word of mouth to impress upon others that the experience is worth it.  Putting Kiosks in Gamestop, Besty Buy, and other electronics stores is probably the best way to sell it.

I have a feeling that Sony should have went with VR Gimmick console (PS5?) to push the price lower.

Just asked Shuhei on Twitter, we'll see if he responds.

To be honest our dollar is worth about 70 American cents right now so I'm expecting PSVR to be pretty high priced in Canada haha
