Your tag says favorite game(s) series and is full of raceing games.

PS VR will have:

Project cars, Trackmania turbo, Driveclub, Grand Turismo Sports, and likely more big raceing car games for VR.

There are plenty of big titles for it, not just 100s of 5$ smart phone quality games.

"Psychological projection, also known as blame shifting, is a theory in psychology in which humans defend themselves against their own unpleasant impulses by denying their existence while attributing them to others."

from your own tag:

"Let's just say I love racing games followed by shooters.  Probably the reason why I bought an Xbox One, probably because I am an Xbox One fanboy, and I know you love that too." - Vrruumm.

Yes I think the PS4 is the best console this gen.

But your massively downplaying PS VR.

Damn son, that's some serious owning you did right there.

Edit: btw if he comes back with a reply, it's not worth  response. Guys like that just want to downplay something but never bring anything substantial to the argument. They will ignore the points you make and shift the argument to something else so they can keep the argument going until you have had enough and won't bother with a reply. By not replying they will think they have won the argument but just let them have it.

If any company wants this to be successful, it has to become something mainstream where it is the focus of gaming and not an add on. I'm not saying that the experience wouldn't be awesome, but there are so many of us happy with what we have and doubling what we spend to get it is a huge barrier. They will really need to land with a splash.

Marketing research:

The intrest is there across all age groups (but highest amount the youngest).

Look at the 18-34 & 35-54 age groups.

They both want a VR headset to be around 280$.

299$ is def. the sweet spot for a VR helmet.

If sony does that, it ll catch the casual consumers... it ll be the Wii effect all over again, but instead of motion controllers,

it ll be "lets try that VR thing everyone is talking about".

Even if Sony launches VR at 499, it will be 100$ cheaper and connect ready without any other expense. Still a pretty steep price considering that it is an accessory for ps4. Also we don't know how much of support it will get from developers. I think ppl hoping for 399 are gonna be disappointed (but sony can still do it yet at great loss)

I don't think it will be a great loss. You have to remember oculus includes an X1 controller and 2 games and is also stronger than the Oculus. So Sony is releasinga  weaker device and with possibly nothing but the device itself. That can drop the price by about $200-$300.

Seeing how Occulus is 599 USDs, PSVR has the advantage. A PS4 maybe be required to use their VR device, but even then, Occulus is just way too expensive to entice people to buy. If PSVR is around 300 USDs, I think it has a good chance of beating Occulus.

I just don't see it. Call me pessimistic but the prices are just too high. Plunking down an extra ~$400 on a peripheral for a console that you already spent a couple hundred on, to play a limited amount of games doesn't scream mass market to me (it screams Kinect).

Well Kinect sold very well so that's not really an argument. I think this is all going to depend on word of mouth. One thing that might really push sales is if friends start bringing over their device to another friends house who also has a PS4. That's if it turns out to be as amazing as everyone who uses seems to think it is.

Yea I feel like $300 is the perfect price. $400 would be just out of my price range that I like but I would still pull the trigger.

I think PS VR will be 349$ (probably sold with a 50$ loss on each unit).
And it ll be really barebones in terms of what comes with it, but the price will get people.

Theres plenty of people that want to try VR, first hand in their own liveing rooms.

(I dont expect sony is able to do VR at 299$, even if that would be what it consumers want)
